Under
the able guidance of Principal Dr Ekta Khosla, Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya,
Jalandhar, through its Internal Quality Assurance Cell, organised a high-impact
One-Day Faculty Enrichment Programme on ‘Green Campus Initiatives’.
The initiative aimed to equip faculty members with practical strategies to
integrate sustainability into campus operations and support the nation’s vision
of Viksit Bharat. Dr. Ashwani Luthra,
Professor, Guru Ram Dass School of Town Planning, GNDU, Amritsar, and a
renowned expert in urban sustainability and climate-resilient planning,
delivered an insightful session highlighting green infrastructure, efficient
land use, biodiversity conservation, energy and water management, and
responsible waste practices. He emphasized the role of educational institutions
as living laboratories of sustainability and connected campus
initiatives with key SDGs, including SDG 6, 7, 11, 12, 13, and 15.
The programme began with the ceremonial lamp lighting. Principal Prof.
Dr. Ekta Khosla welcomed Dr. Luthra with a green planter, reflecting
HMV’s commitment to environmental stewardship. In her address, Principal Khosla
stressed that Green Campus Initiatives are vital for aligning education with
national and global priorities. She stated, “Sustainable practices on
campuses directly advance multiple SDGs. Energy efficiency, enhanced green
cover, reduced waste, and water conservation are essential steps toward
building an environmentally conscious Viksit Bharat.” Faculty members
actively engaged in the interactive session and appreciated Dr. Luthra’s
practical, implementable recommendations for making HMV a model green
institution. The event was organised under the guidance of Dean
Academics Dr. Seema Marwaha, with Dr. Anjana Bhatia
as the coordinator. Principal Dr. Ekta Khosla applauded the efforts of IQAC and
encouraged faculty to adopt sustainable practices both professionally and
personally. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Anjana Bhatia.
The event reaffirmed HMV’s strong commitment to environmental
responsibility, academic excellence, and national development through
sustainability.
