PG Department of Music of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya (HMV)
celebrated Basant Utsav, the festival of spring, with great fervour and musical
elegance. The highlight of the event was a soulful sarangi performance by
maestro Ustad Ghulam Ali Khan Sahib, a distinguished disciple of Ustad Wazir
Hussain Khan Sahib, which mesmerized the audience and filled the atmosphere
with melodic serenity. The programme was organized under the able guidance of
Principal Dr. Ekta Khosla, who extended a warm and cordial welcome to Ustad
Ghulam Ali Khan Sahib and the esteemed guests present on the occasion. The
dignitaries included Mr. Manjit Singh (AIR), Ms. Kamlesh (AIR), Pandit Ramakant
Ji, Arinder Singh Ji, Kale Ram Ji, Tilak Raj Ji, Mr. Sukhdeep (Anhad Studio),
Ms. Kulwinder, Ms. Anu, Ms. Manjit, and Ms. Sukhpreet. Addressing the
gathering, Principal Dr. Ekta Khosla eulogised the rich tradition of music in
Indian culture. She emphasized that music is not merely an art form but a
powerful medium that relaxes the soul and helps establish deep spiritual
connections. Her words resonated strongly with the theme of the festival,
reinforcing the timeless relevance of classical music. The audience thoroughly
enjoyed the captivating performance by Ustad Ghulam Ali Khan Sahib, whose mastery
over the sarangi left the listeners spellbound and created a deeply immersive
experience. The event was organized by Dr. Ashmeen, Ms. Ritu Bajaj, and Dr.
Rama Sharma. Faculty members Dr. Prem Sagar, Dr. Gunjan, Ms. Drishti, Mr.
Parduman, Mr. Jasmail, Mr. Sunny, and Mr. Narayan (Retired) were also present,
lending their gracious support to the programme. The programme concluded with a
heartfelt vote of thanks presented by Dr. Prem Sagar, who expressed gratitude
to the artist, guests, organizers, and attendees for making Basant Utsav a
memorable and enriching cultural celebration.
