The Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Team and the Red Ribbon Club of Hans
Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar organized a community outreach programme
in Dhaliwal village to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS. The initiative was
taken under the able guidance of the Principal, Dr. (Mrs.) Ekta Khosla. Dr.
Minakshi Duggal Mehta, Incharge of the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Cell, and Dr.
Deepali, Coordinator of the Red Ribbon Club, interacted with the villagers and
educated them about HIV/AIDS. They explained the modes of transmission, cleared
common misconceptions, and discussed preventive measures to reduce the risk of
infection. They also emphasized that HIV does not spread through casual contact
such as shaking hands, sharing food, hugging, or mosquito bites, thereby
addressing prevalent myths and fears among people. The speakers highlighted the
importance of early testing, safe practices, the use of sterilized medical
equipment, and awareness about Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) for effective
management of HIV. The villagers actively participated in the session and
showed keen interest in understanding the preventive aspects of the disease.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks to Mr. Mandeep Singh, Sarpanch of
the village, for his support and cooperation in organizing the awareness drive.
Principal Dr. Ekta Khosla appreciated the sincere efforts of the organizing
team and encouraged them to continue conducting such meaningful outreach
programmes for the welfare of society.
