Society of Hans Raj Mahila MahaVidyalaya, Jalandhar, organized
DST-CURIE sponsored week long activities to celebrate the National Science Day
from 28-02-2026 to 06-03-2026 under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Ekta
Khosla. Dr. Ekta Khosla, herself a passionate researcher, shed light on the
theme for National Science Day celebrations 2026 i.e. “Women in
Science: Catalyzing Viksit Bharat” which serves as a reminder of the
transformative power of fundamental research and its long term impact on
technology and industry. The chief guest, of the Valedictory
function, Dr. Neelima Jerath, Ex-director,
Pushpa Gujral Science City, and Freelance consultant UNDP delivered a
talk on “Role of AI in Catalyzing Viksit Bharat”. All
the Head of departments of
science faculty extended green greetings to Madam Principal and the Chief Guest
of the event. She elaborated the impact of AI in our
life by citing examples of optimized traffic management, robotic surgeries,
drug discovery, disease prediction, Self driven cars etc. She also
explained the role of AI for women education and up skilling.
She concluded her talk by stressing on the need ensuring that AI systems act in
accordance with shared human values and ethical principles. Dr. Saloni Sharma, Incharge,
C. V. Raman Science Society discussed the importance of celebrating National
Science Day which is celebrated to commemorate the discovery of Raman Effect by
the eminent Physicist Sir C. V. Raman. Mrs. Deepshikha, coordinator, of
the event, highlighted that the theme of National Science Day 2026 aligns
scientific advancements with India’s vision of becoming a developed nation
while recognizing the role of women researchers and innovators. Various
events like Scientific choreography, idea pitching, Scientific Rangoli,
Quiz, Flower Variety Show were organized on the themes: Environment
Protection, Space and Astronomy, Science and Health, throughout the
weeklong Science day celebrations. The celebrations commenced
with scientific choreography on theme “Impact of Science on Human Journey” on
28th February 2026. The
choreography showcased the contribution of science and technology towards
societal development, environment protection, women empowerment and created
awareness on the need of sustainable development. In poster making
competition, Arshdeep Kaur, B.Sc. Biotechnology
Sem-II, Trishala Vaid, B.Sc. Med Sem VI, Ashmeet Kaur,
B.Sc. NM Sem – II got 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize respectively. In Scientific
Quiz, Noorjot Kaur, B.Sc. Med Sem II, Seyam, B.Sc. Med
Sem II, Bhawna Sharma, B.Sc. NM Sem -II got the 1st prize. While in
Scientific Rangoli, Parineeta and Harshita, B.Sc. NM Sem-IV, Anushka
and Mehak, M.Sc. Chemistry Sem-II, Ishika and Neha,
M.Sc. Maths Sem-II got 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize respectively.
Jasmine Sharma, B.Sc. Biotech. Sem-II, Ridhima Garg and Navjot
Kaur, B.Sc. Med Sem-II, Ankita, B.Sc. C.Sc. Sem-VI secured 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize respectively
in Idea Pitching competition. For Flower Variety Show, Pallavi, B.Sc. Med
Sem-VI, Konica, B.Sc. Med Sem-IV and Kumari Kamini, M.Sc. Botany Sem-IV secured
1st, 2nd and 3rd prize
respectively. Dr. Seema Marwaha, Dean academics, appreciated the efforts
of students and their mentors, for the mesmerizing performances and also
encouraged students to participate in all the activities organized
for them with full zeal and enthusiasm. The stage was hosted by Dr. Anjana
Bhatia, and Dr. Sakshi. Dr. Saloni Sharma presented the vote of
thanks. Dr. Gagandeep, Dr. Harpreet Singh Dr. Jatinder Kumar,
Dr. Shaveta Chauhan Mr. Sumit Sharma, Mrs. Purnima Sharma, Dr.
Sushil Kumar, Dr. Ramandeep, Ms. Harpreet Kaur, Dr. Sakshi Verma,
Dr. Simmi Garg, Dr. Vandna Thakur,
Dr. Shuchi, Dr. Gaurav, Dr. Deepali, Dr. Samriti Vaid,
Ms. Tanisha, Ms. Hemlata were all the part of the event.
