Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, in collaboration with
Arya Pratinidhi Sabha, Punjab Unit and with support from College Student
Council, NCC, NSS and Sports Wing of College organized International Yoga Day
celebrations with great enthusiasm and in a dignified atmosphere. The event was
held under the visionary leadership and inspiring guidance of Principal Dr.
Ekta Khosla. The aim of the program was to create awareness about yoga among
students and staff members and to motivate them to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
On this occasion, Dr. J.P. Shoor, President of Arya Upsabha (Punjab), Shri
Kundan Lal Aggarwal, Deputy Patron, and Shri Ajay Goswami, Secretary of DAV
CMC, New Delhi, graced the event as special guests. They described yoga as an
invaluable heritage of Indian culture and urged everyone to incorporate it into
daily life. Keeping in focus this year's theme set by the Ministry of AYUSH,
Government of India - “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”, yoga expert Shri Simran Hari
Sidana made the participants practice various yogasanas, pranayama and
meditation techniques. Highlighting the physical, mental and spiritual benefits
of yoga, she explained that regular yoga practice provides a person with a
healthy, balanced and stress-free life. At the start of the program, NSS
Program Officer Dr. Jyoti Gogia shared her views on the importance of yoga and
meditation in today’s competitive and stressful life. She said that yoga is not
just an exercise, but a holistic way of life that brings balance and
positivity. In her message, Principal Dr. Ekta Khosla said that yoga is an
invaluable heritage of Indian culture which provides not only physical health
but also mental peace and spiritual balance. She motivated students to make
regular yoga practice an integral part of their routine. “Yoga is not just a
means to keep the body healthy, but the best path for harmony of mind,
intellect and soul. By adopting yoga in today’s fast-paced lifestyle, we can
move towards a healthy, positive and balanced life.” She also honored the
dignitaries by presenting them with green planters. She congratulated the
overall in-charge Dr. Jyoti Gogia and co-in-charge Mrs. Kuljeet Kaur for the
successful organization of International Yoga Day. Dr. J.P. Shoor, President of
Arya Pratinidhi Sabha, in his address said that yoga is an invaluable heritage
of Indian culture and Vedic tradition, which the whole world has adopted today.
Yoga is not just exercise, but a science of coordination of body, mind and
soul. He said that regular yoga practice not only keeps a person physically
healthy, but also provides mental peace, spiritual balance and positive energy.
He urged the youth to make yoga an integral part of their lifestyle and
contribute to building a healthy, aware and empowered society. He also made
everyone take a pledge to adopt yoga in their lifestyle through a Yoga Oath. On
this occasion, the students of the college Sports Department mesmerized
everyone with an attractive demonstration of various yoga postures and asanas
through gymnastics. Their excellent performance inspired and created awareness
about yoga among the audience. Students from NSS, NCC, Students’ Council and
Sports Department participated enthusiastically in the program. Active
participation of the college and school faculty, non-teaching staff and office
bearers of Arya Pratinidhi Sabha made the event even more successful. Cadets
from Bodhisattva Ambedkar School and St. Soldier Law College NCC also participated
enthusiastically. Faculty and non-teaching staff of the college and school
actively took part in the yoga session. On this occasion, retired teachers Mrs.
Sudesh Suri, Mrs. Chibber and Dr. Veena Arora also graced the event with their
presence. Along with them, members of HMV Alumni Welfare Association Mrs.
Sarojini Gautam Sharda (IAS), Mrs. Sarla Bhardwaj and Ms. Ramandeep also
participated in the program and expressed their commitment towards yoga. All
guests and participants described yoga as the foundation of a healthy, balanced
and positive life and pledged to include it in their daily routine. In the end,
all participants took a pledge that they will practice yoga regularly and will
also inspire their family, friends and other people in society to adopt yoga
and live a healthy and balanced life.
