HMV’s Young Entrepreneurs Earn ₹1.52 Crore under Punjab Entrepreneurship Mindset Programme

Students of Hans Raj Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Jalandhar, have written a success story in entrepreneurship by generating a cumulative income of ₹1.52 crore during the academic session 2025–26 under the Punjab Entrepreneurship Mindset Programme (EMP). This achievement is a glimpse into HMV’s vision of providing skill-based, experiential learning and shaping future-ready entrepreneurs. A total of 397 students from B.Com., B.Com. (Financial Services), and various B.Voc. programmes participated in the initiative, demonstrating innovation, business acumen, and dedication across five major domains: Retail Business, E-commerce, Content Creation, Professional Services, and other entrepreneurial ventures. Professional Services emerged as the most preferred sector, followed by Retail Business. Notably, nearly 74% of the participants earned an individual income exceeding ₹10,000. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Seema Khanna, Associate Professor, Department of Commerce and Nodal Officer of EMP, with the active support of 13 mentoring faculty members: Mrs. Binoo Gupta, Dr. Ashmeen Kaur, Mrs. Meenu Kundra, Dr. Rama Sharma, Dr. Kajal Puri, Mrs. Savita Mahendru, Mrs.Shefali Kashyap, Dr. Meenakshi Duggal, Dr. Jaspreet Kaur, Mr. Ashish Chadha, Mrs. Rishav, Mrs. Navneeta, and Mrs. Mukti Arora. To strengthen practical learning, HMV organized entrepreneurship fairs, exhibitions, and business stalls where students marketed and sold their own products, gaining firsthand experience in business operations. Competitions promoting digital literacy and innovation were also conducted. Educational visits to Nexus Mall and Alpha Mall enabled students to study retail management, visual merchandising, and consumer behaviour in real-world settings. Several student-led ventures have achieved notable success. Sumanpreet Kaur and Ishika of B.Com. (Financial Services) are successfully managing Mehndi Art services along with home-made sweets and pickle businesses. Divya Mahindru has established herself in the artificial jewellery sector, while Sneha has launched “Sneha Cosmetics.” Manmeet Kaur, Navneet Kaur, and Bhagwant have built thriving ventures in nail art and bakery services. B.Voc. Cosmetology student Banipreet Sethi continues to earn through her beauty enterprise, Harleen Kaur Walia has found success in the bracelet business, and BBA student Puneet Kaur has excelled in the apparel industry. Expressing her delight over this accomplishment, Principal Dr. Ekta Khosla stated that earning ₹1.52 crore is far more than a financial milestone; it is a testament to the limitless potential, creativity and entrepreneurial mindset of HMV students. She emphasized that when education is integrated with practical exposure, skill development, and hands-on training, students become capable of making meaningful contributions to society and the economy. Dr. Khosla further remarked that the vision of the National Education Policy 2020 is to create job creators rather than job seekers, and HMV is working towards that objective. Through real-life business experiences involving marketing, finance, customer engagement, digital platforms, and innovation, the students have developed confidence, leadership qualities, and problem-solving skills while proving that young women can redefine success in every sphere. She added that entrepreneurship is not merely about starting a business but also about learning self-reliance, leadership, decision-making, risk management, and social responsibility. By transforming small ideas into successful enterprises, HMV students have demonstrated that determination coupled with proper guidance can turn aspirations into reality. Congratulating Dr. Seema Khanna, the mentoring faculty, and all participating students, Dr. Khosla described the achievement as the outcome of collective dedication and a culture of excellence at HMV. She expressed confidence that the institution’s students will continue to set new benchmarks in entrepreneurship while contributing significantly to the vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat and women empowerment. This initiative stands as a shining example of the successful integration of entrepreneurship, technology, commerce, and skill-based education in higher learning, inspiring young women to become future employers and innovators rather than merely job seekers.
