HMV Marks 80th Independence Day with Patriotic Fervour


 

Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar celebrated Independence Day with immense patriotic fervour and enthusiasm under the inspiration and guidance of Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Ekta Khosla. The celebrations reflected the institution’s commitment to nurturing responsible citizens and contributing towards the vision of a progressive and Viksit Bharat @2047. The programme was organized by the PG Department of Political Science in collaboration with the NCC and History Department. The celebrations began with NCC cadets escorting Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Ekta Khosla for the ceremonial unfurling of the National Flag. Addressing the attendees, Principal Dr. Ekta Khosla referred to the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s Independence Day address and highlighted the significant role of youth in Nation-Building. She encouraged students to explore entrepreneurship, innovation and self-employment as avenues for personal growth and national development. Dr. Khosla also stressed the importance of women empowerment and urged students to uphold the values of patriotism, discipline, responsibility and service to the nation. Students of HMV Collegiate School—Jiya, Uma Arora, Mansi, Rhythm Kaur and Harshita—presented a poetic portrayal of India’s remarkable journey from the Revolt of 1857 to the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047. Dr. Gunjan and students of the Music Department enthralled the gathering with a melodious rendition of “Vijay Vishva Tiranga Pyara, Jhanda Uncha Rahe Hamara,” dedicated to the National Flag. The Student Council paid a heartfelt tribute to the great freedom fighters whose bravery and sacrifices paved the way for an independent India. Jahnavi, a student of M.A. Political Science Semester-I, presented a thought-provoking poem highlighting the aspirations, energy and determination of India’s youth in shaping the nation’s future. Students also took a pledge to become responsible citizens and make meaningful contributions towards the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047. The occasion was graced by Dr. Mamta, Senior-most Faculty and Dean Publication; Dr. Seema Marwaha, Dean Academic; Mrs. Kuljit, Dean Discipline and NSS Unit-II Incharge; Mrs. Deepshikha, Incharge, Grievance Redressal; Dr. Anjana Bhatia, IQAC Coordinator; Mr. Jagjit Bhatia, Dean Placements; Dr. Gagan, Dean Examination; Lt. Sonia Mahendru, NCC Incharge; Mrs. Purnima, CTO, NCC Air Wing; Dr. Rakhi, HoD, Design Department; Mrs. Alka, HoD, Political Science Department; Mrs. Protima, HoD, History Department; Dr. Jeevan; Mrs. Upma, Collegiate School Incharge; Office Superintendents Mr. Ravi, Mr. Pankaj and Mrs. Seema Joshi; Miss Ruchika, Hostel Chief Warden; and student volunteers. The programme concluded with the National Anthem, leaving the gathering with a renewed sense of pride, unity and responsibility. The celebrations reaffirmed the collective commitment of the HMV fraternity to uphold the ideals of freedom and democracy and to actively contribute towards building a stronger, empowered and developed India by 2047.
