The NCC Unit of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, in
collaboration with the Ex-Servicemen Welfare Association, Bhogpur, organized a
felicitation ceremony to honor Armed Forces War Veterans and Veer Naris with
patriotic fervor and enthusiasm. Mrs. Vani Vij, Managing Director of the Dainik
Savera Group, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Captain Gurmail
Singh, President of the Ex-Servicemen Welfare Association, Bhogpur, was the
Guest of Honour. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Ekta Khosla warmly welcomed the
dignitaries and expressed her deep appreciation for their contribution to the
nation. Principal Dr. Khosla described Mrs. Vani Vij as a true embodiment of
women empowerment and lauded Captain Gurmail Singh and the armed forces
veterans for their exemplary service and sacrifices. Dr. Khosla emphasized that
the peace and security enjoyed by citizens are made possible by the dedication
and sacrifices of the armed forces. Mrs. Vani Vij delivered an emotional and
inspiring address, expressing heartfelt gratitude to the Veer Naris and Veer
Sainiks. She stressed the importance of preserving their legacy and instilling
the values of patriotism and service in future generations. She also assured
the principal of her continued support for initiatives related to the Indian
Army. Captain Gurmail Singh highlighted the glorious history and achievements
of the retired armed forces personnel associated with his organization. He
mentioned that several veterans had been honored with prestigious gallantry
awards, including the Shaurya Chakra, Vir Chakra, Kirti Chakra and Sena Medal.
He also recalled the courage and determination displayed by Indian soldiers
while serving the nation in challenging circumstances. On this occasion,
Principal Dr. Ekta Khosla also paid tribute to and honoured the Veer Naris,
whose husbands made the supreme sacrifice for the nation during the 1971 War
and the Kargil War.A patriotic song presented by students of the Music Vocal
Department added to the spirit of the occasion. Principal Dr. Ekta Khosla
congratulated the organizing team, comprising Dr. Shallu Batra, Coordinator;
Lt. Sonia Mahindru, Convener; and CTO Air Mrs. Purnima, Co-convener, for the
successful conduct of the programme. Dr. Jyoti Gogia, Head of the Hindi
Department, conducted the stage proceedings efficiently, while Lt. Sonia
Mahindru delivered the vote of thanks. Dr. Ramnita Saini Sharda from the Department
of English was also present on the occasion. The occasion was further enriched
by the presence of the NCC Unit, NSS Unit, and the Students’ Council. The
ceremony concluded with a renewed sense of gratitude and respect for the brave
veterans and Veer Naris who have made invaluable contributions to the nation.
