HMV Organizes Workshop on World Suicide Prevention Day

 

The Freudian Psychological Society of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, organised a workshop on the occasion of World Suicide Prevention Day, under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Ekta Khosla. The workshop featured two insightful sessions. Mrs. Sangeeta Bhatia, Headmistress and HOD of Psychology, MGN Public School Jalandhar conducted a session on “Speak Up for Life: Prevent Suicide”, highlighting case studies, individual responsibilities, preventive steps and the importance of creating a culture of suicide prevention. The virtual session by Dr. Amandeep Singh, Assistant Professor, Project Director (ICSSR Project) and Suicide Prevention Researcher, Department of Liberal Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Bengaluru Campus, Karnataka, focused on “Beyond the Pain: Understanding Self-Injury and Preventing Suicide.” He sensitised students about myths, warning signs, stages of suicidal behaviour, psychological distress, safety protocols, coping strategies and preventive measures. Dr. Ashmeen Kaur, Head, P.G. Department of Psychology, welcomed the resource persons. Principal Dr. Khosla appreciated the initiative and emphasised the importance of psychological awareness and timely support among students. More than 100 students actively participated in the workshop. Faculty members Ms. Priya, Ms. Nandita Sharma, Ms. Ishamanpreet Kaur and Mrs. Gurpreet were also present. The event was anchored by Sahejpreet Kaur and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Ashmeen Kaur.

Voter Registration Camps Organized at HMV

 

Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, organized a series of Voter Registration Camps to encourage young students to participate actively in the democratic process. The camps were organized under the guidelines of the Punjab Government's Office of Electoral Registration and Department of Higher Education on August 26, September 3 and September 9, 2026 by the Electoral Literacy Club and PG Department of Political Science. The initiative aimed at guiding students aged 18 years and above regarding their registration in the electoral roll and making them aware of their rights and responsibilities as responsible citizens. Principal Dr. Mrs. Ekta Khosla motivated the eligible students to register themselves as voters and emphasized that participation in the electoral process is not only a democratic right but also a moral responsibility. She stated that India’s emergence as a global leader is deeply rooted in its strong democratic values and institutions. Active participation of the youth in the democratic process, she added, is essential for strengthening the nation and realizing the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047. She further said that these camps were organized under special campaign and enrollment drive for eligible students aged 18 and 18 plus as voters and form a part of ongoing Special Intensive Revision 2026 by the Government of Punjab. HMV is making every possible effort to facilitate voter registration and ensure that eligible students receive proper guidance throughout the process. During the camps, Mrs. Alka, Head of the Department of Political Science and SVEEP Nodal Officer, along with Dr. Jiwan Devi, In-charge of the Political Science Forum, guided the students regarding the procedure for filling Form 6 and the Declaration Form. Students were also informed that these forms can be downloaded from the official website of the Election Commission of India and, after completion, submitted to the Booth Level Officer (BLO) of their respective areas. The SVEEP Ambassadors of the college also played an active role in the campaign. Bhawana (M.A. Semester III), Jahanvi and Palak (M.A. Semester I), Simran, Akanshi, Tanvi and Aditi Sharma (B.A. Semester V), and Drishti and Anshita (B.A. Semester I) reached out to fellow students through both online and offline modes and assisted them with voter registration-related information. The initiative reflected HMV’s continued commitment towards nurturing socially aware, responsible and democratically conscious citizens who can contribute meaningfully to the vision of a developed and progressive India.

 

B.Voc Mental Health & Counselling Students of HMV Secured University Positions

 

Students of B.Voc. (Mental Health and Counselling), Semester IV of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, brought laurels to the institution by securing top positions in the GNDU university examinations. Km. Pahul Jabal secured the first position with an outstanding 9.18 SGPA. Km. Ramneek and Km. Pahulpreet Kaur jointly secured the second position with 9.00 SGPA, while Km. Sheryl Salhotra, Km. Sahejpreet Kaur, and Km. Natasha jointly bagged the third position, securing 8.82 SGPA. Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ekta Khosla congratulated Dr. Ashmeen Kaur, Head of the Department of psychology, the faculty members, and the meritorious students for their commendable achievement. Principal Dr. Khosla appreciated the students for their dedication and hard work and wished them continued success in their academic pursuits.

 

HMV Collegiate School Conducts Students' Council Installation Ceremony

 

HMV Collegiate Sr. Sec. School organized its Installation Ceremony to formally induct the newly elected Student Council for the academic session 2026–27 under the able guidance of the Principal Dr. Ekta Khosla. Principal Dr.  Khosla was accorded a warm welcome with a planter by Dr. Urvashi Mishra, Dean, Student Council, and Mrs. Upma Gupta, School In-charge. The newly appointed student leaders were formally invested with their badges and entrusted with their respective responsibilities. Taking the oath of office, they pledged to discharge their duties sincerely and responsibly while upholding the values of loyalty, truth, and honour. Diya Vaid of SSC-II Non-Medical was appointed Head Girl. Nikita of SSC-II Commerce and Uma of SSC-II Arts were appointed Joint Head Girls. Harkirat Kaur of SSC-I Commerce, Arshiya of SSC-I Arts and Anandi of SSC-I Medical were appointed Assistant Head Girls. The Class Representatives and Task Force members, who form an integral part of the Student Council, were also formally inducted. Thirteen students were selected for the Task Force, while nine students were appointed as Class Representatives. Addressing the gathering, Principal Dr. Ekta Khosla congratulated the newly inducted student leaders and highlighted the importance of effective leadership through the concept of the Three Hs—Head to Think, Heart to Feel and Hand to Do. She encouraged them to become role models for their fellow students, perform their responsibilities judiciously, maintain discipline and integrity, and remain guided by strong moral values. She also urged them to strive for academic excellence, actively participate in sports and co-curricular activities, take care of their well-being, support their fellow students, and show due respect to their teachers. Dr. Khosla further encouraged them to treat their oath as a sincere commitment and to always strive for excellence. Dr. Urvashi Mishra, Dean, Student Council, congratulated the newly appointed office bearers and emphasized that leadership is not merely about holding a position or wearing a badge; rather, it is a responsibility to serve others with sincerity, dedication, and integrity. She further encouraged the student leaders to remain fair, disciplined, approachable, and committed to working collectively for the progress and welfare of the school. The ceremony concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Mrs. Upma Gupta, School Incharge. She expressed her gratitude to Principal Dr. Ekta Khosla, Dr. Seema Marwaha, School Advisor, faculty members, the HMV Student Council, and the supporting staff for their valuable contributions to the successful organization of the programme. The ceremony concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.

HMV B.Sc. Students Shine in GNDU Exams

 Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, takes immense pride in the outstanding academic performance of its B.Sc. Medical and Non-Medical Semester VI students in the university examinations. Gurleen Kaur Chana secured an impressive 8.46 CGPA, followed by Tania with 8.41 CGPA and Himanshi with 8.38 CGPA. Komal also demonstrated excellent academic performance by securing an impressive 8.3 CGPA while Komal Mehra became successful in securing 8.2 CGPA. Principal Dr. Ekta Khosla congratulated the students on their remarkable achievement and appreciated their dedication, hard work, and commitment to academic excellence. Dr. Khosla also lauded the faculty members for their valuable guidance and continuous support in enabling the students to achieve such commendable results. Further, Principal Khosla encouraged students to continue pursuing excellence and set higher goals for their future academic and professional endeavors. On this occasion, Mrs. Deepshikha, Head of the Department of Chemistry; Dr. Anjana Bhatia, Dean, IQAC-cum-Head of the Department of Botany; and Dr. Harpreet Singh, Head of the Department of Bioinformatics, were also present.

 

HMV Collegiate Celebrated Teachers' Day with Grandeur and Gratitude

 

Under the visionary leadership of Principal Dr. Ekta Khosla,  HMV Collegiate Senior Secondary School celebrated Teachers' Day with great enthusiasm and reverence to honour the invaluable contribution of teachers in shaping young minds and building the nation. The programme was coordinated by Mrs. Upma Gupta, School Incharge, and Mrs. Renu Walia, Incharge, Extra-Curricular Activities, under the able guidance of Dr. Seema Marwaha, Dean Academics and School Advisor. The ceremony commenced with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by the soulful rendition of the DAV Gaan. The Principal, Dr. Ekta Khosla, was felicitated  with a bouquet of flowers as a mark of respect and gratitude. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ekta Khosla spoke eloquently about the profound legacy of HMV and remarked that the institution's walls are blessed by the vision and ideals of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, one of the eminent founders associated with the institution. Addressing  the students, she emphasised that while Artificial Intelligence may transform the landscape of education, it can never replace human empathy, compassion and the emotional connect between a teacher and a learner. Extending her warm wishes to the teaching fraternity, the Principal described teachers as true nation-builders, who illuminate the path of knowledge and values and inspire generations to follow the enlightened way. She wished the teachers continued success and fulfilment in their noble vocation. The celebration was enriched by vibrant array of cultural presentations, including thought-provoking speeches, melodious singing and heartfelt poetry recitations. One of the highlights of the programme was an evocative poem presented by Yashvi of SSC-II, dedicated to Hans Raj Mahila Mahavidyalaya. Through her verses, she beautifully portrayed the institution’s enduring significance in the life and journey of every girl student. All the teachers were felicitated with handmade cards lovingly prepared by the students, making the occasion especially warm and memorable. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mrs. Upma Gupta, followed by a cake-cutting ceremony, marking the spirit of gratitude and togetherness that defined the celebration. The stage proceedings were deftly anchored by Ms. Parneet, along with students Pragati and Uma.

 

HMV, JALANDHAR BRINGS NATIONAL GLORY: PRINCIPAL DR. EKTA KHOSLA HONOURED AS ‘EDUPRENEUR OF THE YEAR 2026’

 

Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, added another feather to its illustrious cap as its Principal, Dr. Ekta Khosla, was conferred with the prestigious Edupreneur of the Year Award 2026 at the high-profile Education Leadership Retreat organized by NISA in association with The Times of India. The award ceremony was held on September 2, 2026, where the honour was presented by Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab. Expressing her gratitude, Dr. Ekta Khosla dedicated the honour to DAVCMC, under the inspiring leadership of President Padma Shri Dr. Punam Suri, and expressed heartfelt thanks to Justice N. K. Sud, Chairman, LAC, and her mentors at LAC for their constant guidance and encouragement. She also credited the dedicated HMV team for its collective contribution to the institution’s achievements. Expressing immense pride on this remarkable achievement, Project Coordinator Dr. Anjana Bhatia, IQAC Coordinator stated that Dr. Ekta Khosla has been recognized as Edupreneur of the Year for her visionary leadership and for fostering an educational ecosystem that seamlessly integrates academic excellence with innovation, entrepreneurship, sustainability, and skill development. HMV was especially appreciated for its extensive student council outreach initiatives, including digital outreach, community engagement programmes and environmental sustainability projects. The Education Leadership Retreat brought together distinguished educationists, policy makers, researchers, and institutional leaders from across the country to celebrate excellence and honour visionaries shaping the future of Indian education. On this proud occasion, Dr. Urvashi Mishra, Dean Student Council, Dr. Rama Sharma, PRO and Mr. Ashish Chadha, IIC member were also present and joined in congratulating Dr. Ekta Khosla on this outstanding national recognition. The entire HMV fraternity expressed immense joy and congratulated Dr. Ekta Khosla for bringing laurels to the institution and reaffirming HMV’s position as a leading centre of excellence, innovation, and transformative education in India.
