Vidyalaya, Jalandhar organized one day national seminar on “Journalism: Gaps
between Theoretical & Practical Approaches” under Community College scheme
of UGC. The Chief Guest of inaugural
session was Sh. Om Gauri Dutt, Station Director, Doordarshan, Jalandhar. The seminar was started with Mangal Tilak and
Lighting the lamp. DAV Gaan was recited
by the participants. The keynote speaker
of the seminar was Prof. Sanjeev Bhanawat, Director, Centre of Mass Comm., University of Rajasthan , Jaipur. The resource persons were Sh. Baljeet Balli,
Editor, Babushahi.com and Mrs. Radha Sahni, Sr. Producer and News Anchor, PTC
News, New Delhi . Seminar Coordinator Mrs. Rama Sharma
introduced the topic of the seminar. Principal
Prof. Dr . (Mrs.) Ajay
Sareen welcomed the guests with bouquets of flowers. While addressing, Dr. Sareen said that in the
present scenario, Media plays a very important role and it is the prime
responsibility of the media to show reality to the people.

Om Gauri Dutt said that media, now a days is commercialized. It is the need of the hour to maintain a
balance between commercialization and its prime responsibility. Keynote speaker Prof. Sanjeev Ahanawat said
that media should accept the challenge of creativity, thinking and
imagination. Resource person Sh. Baljeet
Balli said that media is polluted these days.
He also talked about women education in journalism. He said that language should be pure in
journalism. Mrs. Radha Sahni, Sr.
Producer & Anchor in PTC news said that writing skills are very important
in the field of journalism. Our thinking
should be positive, only then we can contribute in Nation building.
In
the valedictory session, Sh. Irwin Khanna, Editor, Uttam Hindu was the Chief
Guestand Sh. K.K. Rattu, Director, Media Studies, DAV University
was the Guest of honour. Sh. Irwin
Khanna said that media is the most important fourth estate for the smooth
administration of a country. We should
feel our responsibility towards nation.
Sh. K.K. Rattu encouraged the students to set a goal in their life and
keep doing hard work to achieve it.
Seminar
convener & Dean Academics Dr. Meenakshi Syal gave vote of thanks. The seminar was attended by more than 100 participants
from Punjab , Haryana, Rajasthan, Chandigarh
& New Delhi. On this occasion, Dr.
Kamlesh Singh Duggal, Dr. Namrata Joshi, Dr. Ranbir Singh, Dr. Simran Sidhu,
were also present.
