4th Inspire Camp inaugurated at HMV with ‘Conserve Water Theme’



4th DST Inspire Internship Science Camp was inaugurated at Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya.  The theme of the camp was ‘Water Conservation’.  The Chief Guest of the occasion was Director Research GNDU Dr. Narpinder Singh.  The Guest of Honour was Dean Students Welfare Kurukshetra University Dr. Pawan Sharma.  Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen welcomed the guests.  Coordinator of the programme Mr. Harpreet Singh gave introduction of the camp.  He said that this camp is fully funded by Deptt. of Science and Technology, Govt. of India.  Its main purpose is to encourage students to make their career in Science.  Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen said that its purpose is to inculcate research aptitude among students.  You have all the capabilities to take out new things.  This camp will not only give academic upliftment but personality will also be developed.  On this occasion, the Annual Science Magazine of the college ‘Science Gravity’ was also released.  The Editor of the magazine is Dr. Neelam Sharma and Dr. Shaveta Chauhan and Student Editor is Ms. Anamika Thakur.  This will provide a platform to the students for writing in Science. 

In Keynote Address, Chief Guest Dr. Narpinder Singh said that one should be conscious about his/her diet.  Junk food provide us only calories.  Continuous consumption of junk food will cause cancer, diabetes etc.   We need to consume food which will reduce risk of diseases.  Naturally colourful food should be consumed.  Vegetarian diet is always better.  Guest of Honour Dr. Pawan Sharma said that this is the camp where past meets the present for future.  Its purpose is to let you take informed decisions.  If you can innovate, don’t do anything else, except innovation.


In after tea session, Dr. Pawan Sharma talked about learning to spin wheels of science.  He said that science is an organized knowledge consisting of observation, undertaking and analyzation.  He gave presentation on AIDS to make the students aware about its causes, symptoms and cures.  He also presented statistical data of AIDS infected countries on world wide scale.  In the evening session, parallel practical sessions were conducted by departments of Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Biotechnology with students.  In pre-dinner interactive sessions, Dr. Umesh Arya from Guru Jambeshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar was present.  Mrs. Rakesh Uppal, Dr. Neelam Sharma, Dr. Ekta Khosla, Dr. Seema Marwaha, Mrs. Saloni Sharma, Dr. Meena Sharma, Dr. Jitender Kumar were also present.    In this camp, about 200 students of various districts of Punjab are participating.
