Jalandhar: In the time of COVID-19 Lockdown, another negative factor is rapidly increasing in human behaviour, that is worry and fear. It is important to make people aware of Virus Corona to be safe from this disease, but parallel awareness and counseling is more important for people about freedom from fear and anxiety. This is arising out of non-essential information being received by various mediums. For this, the Counseling Cell “Disha” of  Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya (HMV) is working relentlessly. This is an initiative for students as well as citizens.
On behalf of Cell Disha, HMV Principal Professor (Dr.) Ajay Sareen shared that Our cell is not only working for the residents of Jalandhar but also ready to council other state people too. She said that we have started giving primary psychological therapy in context of questions related to curiosity, fear and anxiety. She said that due to increasing medium of communication in the society, people are suffering from insecurity in every way, which is not only keeping everyone away from social concerns, but is also taking them away from themselves. In such period, Psychology department of HMV has started counseling in a psychological way. Principal Professor (Dr.) Sareen said that due to social distancing, the college has started an email counselinghmv@gmail.com in this regard. Apart from this, the senior faculty of the college Dr. Ashmeen Kaur, Dr. Venus and Ms. Anjana have been counseling through whatsapp messages and video calls. The mobile numbers of these faculty members have been made available on the college website. Through this platform people can get solutions to their fears, insecurities and other psychology based problems.
Principal Professor (Dr.) Ajay Sareen has appealed everyone to avoid rumours in this period of Covid-19. She advised people to avoid getting unnecessary information, spend time with family, and take precaution suggested by the health department. She further added to read books, play indoor games for fun, listen to good music and most importantly, firmly believe that this time will pass too. The universe is in the hands of God. Have faith and gather strength from within.
