The PG department of Mass Communication and Video Production of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya organized a Workshop on Fact Checking and Data Verification through Google News Initiative. The resource person of the workshop was Prof. Umesh Arya, Chairman, Department of Communication Management and Technology, Guru Jambeshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar, Haryana. Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen welcomed him and said that in this time of Corona Pandemic, checking the facts before forwarding is very necessary. The world is also fighting with information pandemic as well. So checking of facts is the need of the hour. Workshop Coordinator and Head of department Mrs. Rama Sharma welcomed him and gave concept note of the workshop. Prof. Umesh Arya told the participants about how to check the facts with the help of various softwares which makes it clear that the facts must be verified. He said that we must be vigilant towards all types of information we receive specially in times of pandemic. He gave various examples of misinformation and disinformation. This workshop was conducted through facebook live with a reach of almost 700 participants. The participants also asked various questions from Prof. Umesh Arya. Mrs. Rama Sharma thanked him and all the participants. She showed her gratitude towards Principal Prof. Dr. Ajay Sareen for giving this opportunity to conduct such workshop which is the need of the hour.
