Students of HMV were told basics of Kitchen Gardening

 


Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar is offering a 10 day Induction Programme in Life and Professional Skills for +2 students. On the seventh day of this programme Dr. Nitika Kapoor from Post Graduate Department of Botany was the Resource Person. In first session, she delivered a lecture on “Basics of Kitchen Gardening”. She demonstrated the preparation of compost from kitchen waste and garden waste.   She made the students aware about various techniques of organic farming by which they can produce chemical free vegies and other herbs at their home. In second session, she told the students about how to prepare vermicompost at their home. In addition to this various practicals used to test physico-chemical properties of soil like pH, electrical conductivity and water holding capacity of soil etc. were also performed with the help of Ms. Harpreet Kaur. Students took keen interest in these experiments and setting of compost units. Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen congratulated the Resource Persons, organizers Mrs. Meenu Kohli and Ms. Shallu Batra.
