Declared as Green Champion by Department of
Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India, Hans Raj Mahila
Maha Vidyalaya always strives to provide value oriented skill based and
globally competent education in syne with Nation’s March towards Sustainable
Growth and Prosperity under the sagacious and dynamic leadership of Prof. Dr.
(Mrs.) Ajay Sareen. In this string of
maintaining sustainable balance of the surroundings and creating insightful
amongst the masses about our environment, the faculty and the students of HMV
Collegiate Sr. Sec. School took a pledge to ‘Make Jalandhar Plastic Free’
on virtual platform with exemplary zeal.
In order to give this pledge a concrete shape the students sent E-mails
to the concerned leaders mentioning the grave consequence of using plastic as
it is non-biodegradable and stays in soil for centuries. The students mentioned in the mail the
pathetic and horrid situation shown not only with the extinction of animals but
also of dreadful diseases which engulf the human beings as micro-plastics are
new eaten by them through the food they consume. They emphasized to enforce the ban on all plastic
bags stringently and to save Punjab from Plastic suffocation for the future
generations. For the sake of creating
cognizance of this censorious issue in umpteen people, the students made videos
transmitting the message of putting complete ban on plastic carry bags as our
future on earth is in grave danger due to this.
The
initiatives of the students resulted in success when the School Co-ordinator
Mrs. Meenakshi Sayal received the reply E-mail from the concerned officials in
which the efforts of the students were appreciated and reassurance was given to
take prudent actions to enforce the ban on plastic. Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen
informed that practice of no use of plastic is already going on in the
institution. She further appreciated the
students about their concern for environment protection.
