A seven day special NSS camp has been
started in the premises of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya Jalandhar. NSS
adviser Dr. Anjana Bhatia and NSS coordinators Dr. Veena Arora and Ms. Harmanu
Paul welcomed the Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen. On the first day of
the camp, the inauguration
ceremony was addressed by Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen. Principal
Sareen congratulated the entire NSS unit and its volunteers for this pious
work. Further, she said that such sorts of activities are mandatory for the
welfare of our society. On the first day of this camp, NSS coordinators Dr.
Veena Arora and Ms. Harmanu Paul addressed and motivated all the volunteers and
briefed them pertaining to the activities to be done for the next seven days.
On this day, More than 89 NSS Volunteers, alongwith their coordinators and
other members visited Red Cross School for the deaf and dumb near new Sabzi Mandi
Maqsudan. Principal of the school Sh. Pushpinder Sharma welcomed the Principal
Dr. Ajay Sareen and others wholeheartedly and also thanked her for sending NSS
team in their school. Further, Principal Pushpinder told
us that, this school is aided by ministry of social justice which’s president
is the Deputy Commissioner of Jalandhar. Additionally, He told that inderdev
singh is the secterary of the school and more than 70 deaf and dumb students,
who are not only from Punjab but also from Himachal and Haryana, are taught in
this school. NSS volunteers spent quality time with these special students and
distributed eatables among them. Volunteers also made a murial painting inside
the school with the help of Dr. Shailender. Some of the volunterrs engaged
themselves in colouring trees and planted some plants in the garden of the
school. After that, students reached the college where the coordinator Dr.
Veena Arora and Ms. Harmanu Paul shared the experience of the day with NSS
volunteers. Dr. Jyoti Gogia delivered a vote of thanks and congratulated all
the NSS volunteers for their endeavours made on the first day of the camp.
