Design
Department of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar Celebrated National
Handloom Day by conducting a one day handloom workshop for the students of
Design, Fine Arts, and Multimedia. Dr. Rakhi Mehta, Head of Design Department
was the resource person. She demonstrated the handloom operations and
importance of handloom In India history and culture. She also explained the
role of handloom fabrics in our life. Various fabrics like khadi, kanjivarm,
brocades, Cotton handloom durries etc. were discussed in detail during the
workshop. Students experimented with various kinds of yarns and create hand
woven design pieces. Principal Professor Dr. (Mrs.Ajay Sareen) encouraged the
students. She said that in our life we should give importance to handloom
fabric and also appreciate the efforts of students to develop handloom
products. Dr. Anjana Bhatia, Dean Innovations and faculty members Ms. Manika,
Ms. Ritika, Ms. Ravneet were present at the time of workshop.
