Department of Mathematics of Hans Raj Mahila MahaVidyalaya organized One day
Workshop-cum-Extension Lecture on “Mathematical Computations using SCILAB and
MATLAB and it's Applications ” under DBT Star Scheme of Colleges under the able
guidance of Principal Prof. Dr.( Mrs.) Ajay Sareen. The overall Incharge of the
workshop was Head of Department of Mathematics Dr. Gagandeep. The resource person for the workshop was Dr.
R. Sivaraj, Associate Professor, Department of Mathematics and Computing, Dr. B.R
Ambedkar NIT, Jalandhar. Prof. Sivaraj gave the lecture on the topic
“Mathematical Computations using SCILAB and MATLAB and it's Applications”.
SCILAB and MATLAB both are high performance software packages for computing and
he provided a hands on practical information on these softwares. Dr Sivaraj gave information which is the need of
the hour for students who are dealing with problems of mathematics and require
software knowledge for the same. Dr.
Sivaraj has explained about the different career opportunities in mathematics in
different countries and have also elaborated the benefits of career in
mathematics comparative to other sectors like IT. Dr. R. Sivaraj told a
mathematician career as the most opportunists and multi talented in every
sector. On the same day Mathematics department also organised 'Mathematical
Rangoli ' making competition. Students of Mathematics department participated
in this competition with full enthusiasm. They prepared very beautiful and
attractive Rangolis using mathematical symbols, Patterns, formulas and concepts
etc. Prof. Sivaraj and Dr. Gagandeep acted as judge for this competition. In
this competition Mrs. Ishika and Mrs. Roshni of B.Sc Non Med Sem V got first
prize, Jasmine and Bharti of B.Sc Comp Sc Sem III got second prize, Harshita
and Parinika of B.Sc Non Med Sem I got third prize and two teams got
consolation prize. Dr. Seema Marwaha, Dean Academics and Head of Zoology Department, Mrs.
Deepshikha, Dean Examination and Head of PG Department of Chemistry
congratulated Mathematics department to organize this workshop. Students of
B.Sc Sem II, IV, VI and M.Sc (Mathematics) participated in this workshop with
full enthusiasm. Dr. Gaurav Verma presented vote of thanks for the event. The
other faculty members of Mathematics Department Dr. Deepali, Ms. Charanjit and
Mrs. Geeta were also present in this workshop.
