The PG
Department of Mathematics of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya Jalandhar
celebrated international π-day. On this occasion, Mathematics Department
organized (under DBT Star scheme) a Mathematical Poster Presentation, Quiz
Competition and Mathematical Rangoli under the able guidance of Principal Prof.
Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen who always motivated to hold such events. The resource
person of the event Prof. Dr. Ashish Arora, department of Mathematics, I.K.G.
Punjab Technical University, Kapurthala was formally welcomed by green planter.
His talk was on ‘Indian contribution to world of Mathematics and its scope’. Dr.
Gagandeep, Head of Mathematics department introduced about the event and
encouraged the students to pursue for research using softwares like Mathematica
and MATLAB which are highly used softwares for numerical computations. The
students gave power point presentation by using various softwares and their
applications in variety of fields. Dr. Gagandeep was over-all incharge of the
day. Dr. Gagandeep welcomed Principal Dr. Ajay Sareen with a green planter. In
Poster Presentation competition, Ramgarhia College, Phagwara got first prize, MGN
College of Educataion, DAV University got second prize and HMV, and KNC
Phagwara got third prize. Appriciation prizes were awarded to NJSA Govt College
Kapurthala, KNC Phagwara, BAM Khalsa College Garhshankar and APJ College of
Fine Arts. In Quiz Competition, DAV University got 1st position, MGN College of
Education got 2nd position and HMV stood at third position. In Rangoli
Competition, Ramgarhia College, Phagwara got first prize, MGN College of
Educataion and HMV got second prize and LKC for Women got third prize.
Appriciation awards were given to S.N. College Banga, KRM DAV Nakodar, SGGS
Khalsa College, Mata Gujri Khalsa College Kartarpur and LKC Jalandhar. Principal
Prof. (Dr.) Mrs. Ajay Sareen congratulated the winners and faculty members of
the department.
