HMV Celebrated Anti Ragging Day and Week



 

Under the aegis of Department of Student Welfare, The Anti-Ragging Committee of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya,Celebrated Anti-ragging day and week as per UGC ,C4Y and AICTE Guidelines , under the guidance of  Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen. Anti-Ragging Day celebration  program began with the DAV Gaan, creating an atmosphere of pride and unity. As part of the event, a special planter ceremony was held to honor and appreciate the guests. Green welcome planters were accorded to  Mrs. Binoo Gupta (Dean of Student Welfare), Mrs. Meenu Kohli (Head, PG Department of Commerce), and Dr. Meenu Talwar (Head, Department of Sanskrit). An orientation  programme  was organized on Anti ragging Day in which Dean Students Welfare Mrs. Binoo Gupta, in her address, reiterated the Anti Ragging committee’s commitment to encouraging a healthy atmosphere on campus. She apprised students about composition and working of Anti ragging Committee and UGC guidelines in this regard. Addressing the first year students she highlighted that every year, seniors warmly welcome their juniors with enthusiasm and affection by means of Fresher’s Party and Rakhi Sakhi celebration. In orientation  insightful speeches were delivered on anti-ragging, along with useful advice related to academics and health. Mrs. Meenu Kohli also shared her three mantras for success: keep a diary, write the name of God on its first page, and note down your goals — especially those related to health and personal growth. It was followed by workshop on on “Building a Positive Mindset” in which was hosted by Dr. Meenu Talwar, Head of the Department of Sanskrit, who spoke about emotional well-being, mindfulness, gratitude, holistic growth, and emotional intelligence. The workshop featured interactive discussions and group activities, encouraging students to participate actively and connect with each other. The week long celebration started with screening of  UGC documentary on Anti-Ragging for students to raise awareness about the harmful effects of ragging and the strict legal consequences it carries. Instagram reel made by HMV Students on Anti -Ragging which got National Award by UGC was also presented. The aim was to reinforce the importance of maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive campus environment. Around 200 students attended the event, finding it an open and supportive platform to learn, interact, and express themselves. Riya (B.Com, Sem 1, K2), Anushka (B.Com, Sem 1, K1), and Bhavleen (BBA, Sem 1) shared their appreciation for HMV’s warm and supportive environment, describing it as highly positive, student-friendly, and motivating. Next day In order to inspire the environment of college , a Nukkad Natak on the theme “Say No to Ragging, Say Yes to Respect” was presented by students of the Commerce Department — Deeksha Devi, Alisha, Aditi, Nazam, Benika, Yagima, Diksha, Mohini, Pahul, Japnaaz under the guidance of Dr. Kajal Puri.The Nukkad Natak was applauded by everyone present, successfully delivering the message to reject ragging and embrace mutual respect. The participating students pledged never to indulge in ragging and to spread awareness about its harmful effects. The event was graced by Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen, Dr. Seema Marwaha, Mrs. Binoo Gupta , Dr. Kajal Puri, Dr. Meenu Talwar, Mrs. Deepshikha, Dr. Urvashi Mishra, and special guests from the Inner Wheel Club, whose presence added to the significance of the occasion. Then on next day “ Digital poster making Competition” on Anti - Ragging was organized. First prize in digital poster making given to Muskann Kaushal(BBA sem 3) second prize to Jaspreet kaur (BDMM sem 3). The Judges of the event were Dr. Shallu Batra and Mr. Ashish. “Instagram Reel Making” and “YouTube Video Making” Competitions were organized, where students created awareness videos on the theme of anti-ragging. The initiative helped in spreading the message against ragging effectively through social media platforms. The Judges of the event were Mrs Shefali Kashyap and Dr. Rama Sharma. Frist Prize in Instagram reel making given to Team 1 - Mansi Gupta ( B voc Sem 5), Parampreet kaur ( B voc Sem 5), Riya ( B voc Sem 5 ), Harpreet kaur (B voc Sem 5 ),Niharika ( B voc Sem 5 ). Second prize to Team 4- Nazam Jafri(BBA sem 5), Deeksha Devi (B com sem 5 ),Muskaan (BBA sem 3 ),Pahul ( B voc (MHC) sem 3 ),Benika (BA sem 3), Himanshi( BA sem 3), Garisha(BCA sem 3), Yagima ( B voc (MHC ) sem 1), Japnaaz(B com sem 1 ), Anuska ( B com sem 1 ) . First prize in YouTube video making given to - Nazam Jafri (BBA sem 5), Deeksha Devi (B com sem 5 ),Muskaan (BBA sem 3 ),Pahul ( B voc (MHC) sem 3 ),Benika (BA sem 3), Himanshi( BA sem 3), Garisha(BCA sem 3), Yagima ( B voc (MHC ) sem 1), Japnaaz(B com sem 1 ), Anuska ( B com sem 1 ) .  The  week long celebration ended with “Poster Making”and “Slogan Writing”Competitions , for igniting a wave of enthusiasm among students to creatively express their thoughts on the pressing issue of Anti –Ragging .First prize in poster making was given to Jasneet Dhanjal(BFA sem 7) , second prize to Bhumika (BFA SEM 1) . First prize in slogan writing to Palak (BFA sem 5),second prize to Rabia Mahala (BFA sem 5).  The Judges of the event were Dr. Rakhi Mehta, Dr. Neeru Bharti and Mr. Shailendra. Principal Prof. Dr. Mrs. Ajay Sareen praised the students’ performance, emphasizing that HMV is a zero-tolerance institution towards ragging, where healthy and respectful relations between juniors and seniors are nurtured.. The Principal also commended Mrs. Binoo Gupta and all members of the Anti-Ragging Committee for their continuous efforts in fostering a safe, supportive, and friendly campus environment where every student feels at home. She noted that the committee organizes various activities and competitions annually during Anti-Ragging Week, with students participating enthusiastically. The event was well managed by the hardworking office bearers — Deeksha Devi, Muskaan Kaushal, Anushka, Nazam Jafri and Alisha — all of whom worked tirelessly to ensure its success. They were given Appreciation Award trophy along with the prize winners of competitions held during the week.
