Under
the able aegis of Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Ekta Khosla, the NSS Unit of Hans Raj
Mahila Maha Vidyalaya Jalandha, inaugurated
7-Day Special NSS Camp at village Lidhran. The theme of the camp is “Yuva
Manthan: Seva, Sankalp aur Vikas”, reflecting the spirit of youth engagement,
social responsibility, and nation-building. The inaugural day began with a warm
welcome of Principal Dr. Ekta Khosla. The programme commenced with the soulful
rendition of DAV Gaan. Principal Dr Ekta
Khosla motivated the volunteers to serve society with dedication and sincerity.
She emphasized that youth participation plays a crucial role in
nation-building. She also encouraged the students to utilize the NSS platform
for their holistic development. Following this, Mrs. Satinder
Kaur,Associate Professor in PG Department of Punjabi, apprised the volunteers
about NSS, its objectives, the motto “Not Me, But You,” discipline, code of
conduct, and the responsibilities of NSS volunteers. She emphasized that NSS is
not merely an activity but a way of life that nurtures leadership, empathy, and
social commitment among students. She motivated the volunteers to follow the
true path of service, honesty, and selfless dedication to society. Ms
Harmanu, NSS Incharge, presented a detailed outline of the activities to be
done in this 7-day camp. She sensitized the volunteers about the importance of
cleanliness, health awareness, community interaction, discipline, teamwork, and
active participation during the camp. She also encouraged volunteers to observe
village life closely and identify real-life social issues. On this occasion,
Associate Members of NSS, Mr. Neeraj Aggarwal and Dr. Deepti Dhir, were also
present and encouraged the volunteers to serve society with dedication and
responsibility. The senior volunteers shared their experiences of previous NSS
camp through a PowerPoint presentation, highlighting community service
activities, learning outcomes, and personal growth. This presentation motivated
new volunteers and created enthusiasm among all participants. A group-formation
activity was conducted, in which ten groups were formed. Group leaders were
selected, and duties were distributed to ensure smooth coordination of the camp
activities. This exercise promoted leadership qualities, cooperation, and a
sense of responsibility among volunteers. The volunteers were also assigned
duties for day-wise report writing in Hindi, English, and Punjabi. Subsequently, a cleanliness drive was
conducted in the college hostel lawn. The first day of the camp concluded
successfully with enthusiasm, discipline, and active participation from all
volunteers, setting a strong foundation for the remaining days of the NSS
Special Camp.
