Innovation
cell and placement cell of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar organised
a session on "Sexual Harassment at workplace". The event was organised as the maiden
interactive session under the innovative practice of monthly mind churning
interactive sessions called "Manthan". Manthan is a unique educational initiative of
innovation cell aimed at enlivening the spirit of expression and enhancing the
power of thinking amongst students.
Manthan will deal with many social issues which are not discussed
otherwise in open.
The
resource person for first session of Manthan was Madam Anita Punj, first women
director of 126 year old Punjab
Police Academy ,
Phillaur. She was welcomed by Principal Prof. Dr.
(Mrs.) Ajay Sareen. Speaking on the
occasion Dr. Sareen said that gender equality is very necessary to empower
women and equalizing the rights of women and men in the society improves work
quality and thus economics status of the nation. She congratulated the Dean innovative
practices for yet another distinctive program and expressed her delight on the
role of students who participated whole heartedly in the event.
Mrs.
Anita Punj, IPS connected with the students and eloquently discussed about the
laws to curb the menace of sexual harassment at work place. She engaged the students in role play using
real life scenario to raise awareness of sexual harassment. The students opened up their minds and
discussed in detail their problems. The
students were in high spirits after the session and gave a very positive
feedback about the resource person, Madam Punj.
The students showed their keenness to participated in such activities in
future also. Mrs. Ramnita Saini Sharda,
Dean Innovation, said that the tagline of the event "Manthan" is
"Bol, ke lab azaad hai tere Bol, ki zabaan ab tak teri hai" as
written by Faiz Ahmed Faiz. Mrs. Sharda
said that speaking will ignite a thought process and the students will know
more about various issues ths bringing awareness leading to empowerment.
Dr. Anjana Bhatia, Co-Dean, Innovation also said that
"Manthan" will develop ability and knowledge that will empower the
participating students to build up a sense of responsibility towards the
society and vise-versa. Mr. Gullagong,
Placement Incharge also participated in Manthan alongwith outgoing students of
the college. Mrs. Rama Sharma, Ms.
Lovleen, Mr. Vidhu & Ms. Nandini were also in attendance on the occasion of
Manthan.
