The Orientation Programme of
First Semester Course (all streams) was held on 15th July, 2019 at
Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya. The new
entrants in vibrant colours and with a new zeal to be a part of this renowned
institution made their presence in the early hours of the day. The programme was organized in Ragini
auditorium with the blessings of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen.
The stage was conducted by Dr.
Anjana Bhatia who apprised the students of the basic features of this
prestigious institution. Dr. Ashmeen
Kaur, Dean Discipline spoke about discipline emphasizing that they were not to
use their mobiles in the academic area.
She also focussed on cleanliness, saving the available resources,
mentoring groups and the need to attend atleast 75% lectures. Ms. Shallu Batra, Dean, Student Support
Services focussed on how a good number of scholarships are given to the
deserving students if they meet the eligibility conditions and take care of the
code of conduct of the institution. Dr.
Kanwaldeep Kaur, Dean Academics apprised them of faculty and subject change
rules, leave rules, the academic calendar, HMV advantage and the need to
participate in extra-curricular activities.
Dr. Ramnita Saini Sharda, Dean Innovation Cell emphasized on value added
programmes or HMV advantage and the need to develop language proficiency
through workshops and verbal ability classes.
She also spoke of Buddy programme as per the directions of Punjab Govt.
and adoption of 5 villages as a community service for their upliftment. Mrs. Saloni Sharma, Incharge NCC apprised the
students of voluntary participation in Army and Air Wing and Youth Exchange
Programmes as a service to the nation.
Dr. Anjana Bhatia, NSS
Incharge highlighted on the need of being a part of NSS, Swatchhta Abhiyan, Jal
Shakti Abhiyan and motivated them to enroll themselves for the same. Mr. Gullagong, Placement Incharge focussed on
the need of preparing for good placements at the grass root level i.e. First
year itself through verbal skills, soft skills, add-on-courses as multinational
companies offering good placement keep visiting the institution all round the
year. Dr. Prem Sagar spoke about a new
course introduced this year i.e. certificate course in Applied Music which is
available to the students of all faculties.
Mrs. Urvashi, Dean Student Council motivated the students to join
various societies to be office bearers and develop organizational and management
skills. She also spoke of HMV task
force. Mrs. Meenu Kundra, Co-Dean Youth
Welfare gave information about various teams, their incharges and to be a part
of the Youth Festival through selection mode at the Talent Hunt event. Dr. Sangeeta Arora, Dean Time Table also gave
the names of the teachers who headed various faculties for information on time
table. Dr. Anjana Bhatia also made a
mention of Saksham Wing where students could work for the welfare of the disabled.
After
the general orientation, students were directed to collect their roll numbers
and time table from the concerned incharges and attend their classes after
that.
