Ms. Sonia Mahendru, Assistant Professor of HMV commissioned as Lieutenant


Ms. Sonia Mahendru, Assistant Professor in Department of Computer Science at Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya completed the PRCN course at Officer’s Training Academy (OTA) Gwalior and has been commissioned as Lieutenant. Principal Prof. Dr. Mrs. Ajay Sareen and all faculty members congratulated her. Principal Prof. Dr. Mrs. Sareen said it a proud moment for the institute. Ms. Sonia Mahendru shared her journey and said that it was a wonderful experience getting training among 143 trainees from different states and culture of India. Highly skilled instructors from NDA and IMA gave them training of drill, firing, unarmed combat, tent pitching, map reading and weapon training. Not only theoretical subjects were taught but maximum ground exposure was also provided. Various activities at OTA, Gwalior boosted moral, confidence, punctuality, team spirit and time management of the trainees. Many sports competitions were also organized like table tennis, badminton, throw ball, volley ball, tug of war and drill, firing, etc. Ms. Sonia Mahendru, along with other trainees also visited air force station where they saw take off and landing of fighter planes, ATC and cockpit of mirage. She also had hands on experience of weapons like rocket launcher, light machine gun, AK 47 and tanks. She also visited Lakshmi Bai National Institute for Physical Education. Principal Dr. Sareen told that during the 90 days course, Ms. Sonia Mahendru participated in four major exercises, Anubhav (Institutional training planning for cadets), Darshan ( Planning of adventure activities like trekking and cycling), Yuva Shakti (Related to social services and community development programmes) and Shakti ( Planning, layout and conduct of CATC camp). Ms. Mahendru said that this achievement would not have been possible because of the encouragement, faith and continuous support of Principal Prof. Dr. Mrs. Ajay Sareen.
