Under the able guidance of
worthy Principal Prof. Dr.(Mrs.) Ajay Sareen a One day workshop on
`Demonstration of instrumentation and techniques involved in biotechnology’ was
organized by the department of Biotechnology in collaboration with Rapture International Biotech Pvt. Limited,
Mohali, Punjab.
Dr. Shreya Jain, Director
of the organization was the main resource person and was assisted by Ms. Gunjan
Singh (HR manager) , Ms. Anshul thakur and Ms. Mehak garg.
Dr. Jain sensitized the
students with latest tools and techniques used in Biotechnological and other
related fields like PCR, Chromatographical techniques, etc.
She demonstrated hands on
practical training on various topics like polymerase chain reaction, Milk
sample testing ,working of LAF, Gram staining ,Blood smear, catalase and
coagulase test, tablet hardener tester etc.
She also demonstrated
various techniques in fermentation such as SCP production, by the use of lab
scale fermenter.The students were equipped with the useful knowledge of the
design, processing, characterization and application of the broad range of
Biotechnology in Food industry, Pharmaceuticals industry, Molecular biology and
Microbiology industry emphasized through hands-on lab session.
Besides this, various tips
were given to the students for facing the challenges in upcoming field of
industrial Biotechnology. On this occasion, Dr.Seema Marwaha, Dr. Anjana Bhatia
Dr. Harpreet Singh, Mr. Sumit Sharma and Mrs. Ramandeep Kaur were also present.
