Velidictory Function of DST sponsored level Training Workshop on Visual Explanation of Geometrical Theorms

 



The valedictory function of DST sponsored National Level Training workshop on Visual Explanation of Geometrical Theorms was successfully organized at HMV Collegiate Sr. Sec. School under the dynamic guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen. On this occasion school coordinator Mrs. Meenakshi Sayal, alongwith Dr. K.S. Bath, Joint Director, Punjab Council for Science & Technology, extended green welcome to worthy chief guest  Dr. Pawan Gupta, Member Local Managing Committee. The event commenced with lamp lighting ceremony followed by the recital of DAV Gaan. The sole purpose of organising the training workshop was to incorporate technology in Mathematics classrooms and to engage students in active learning.

On the first day of the workshop three sessions were conducted in which the keynote speaker Sh. Gurmeet Singh gave demonstration and presentation of teaching aids about measurement of various angles in mathematics. On the second day of the workshop Sh. Gurmeet Singh explained properties and theorms of circle, cyclic quadrilateral, arc and chord. The valedictory session concluded by discussing theorms regarding angle bisectors of a triangle and median of a triangle. It was an interactive session with the incorporation of various activities on mathematical concepts which benefitted teachers from various schools. The workshop was informative, constructive and interactive. Coordinator Mrs. Meenakshi Sayal expressed her gratitude to the resource person for making the session most informative and innovative. She also thanked the worthy guests presiding over the event. She said that it is integration of technology in mathematics that provided educators with hands-on-experience using technological tools. The chief guest Dr. Pawan Gupta also insisted on bridging the gap between content and pedagogy as mathematics has traditionally been perceived difficult and it is need of the hour to introduce new techniques to make it simple as well as interesting. Around 30 teachers from different schools participated in this workshop and they felt elated to gain knowledge about new techniques of teaching mathematics and were excited to make use of teaching aids. The stage was conducted by Ms. Jaspreet Kaur. Overall it was a great opportunity for all the mathematics teachers.
