The 95th
foundation day celebrations at Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya started with the
inauguration of Aushadhi Upvan: a herbal garden in the premises of the college.
Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen inaugurated the garden and said that the
traditional medicinal biodiversity of India is a reservoir of significant
ingredients that can be used in drug development against many diseases. She
further added that the HMV has always worked towards sustainable development
with a missionary zeal and the name of HMV is written in golden words in this
perspective.

Head, PG Department of Botany said that the dedicated herbal garden has been
started with about 50 species of various medicinal plants like Karanj, Gurmar,
Hadjod, Camphor, Stevia, Aprajita, All Spice, Insulin, Jatropha etc . More
plants will be added in the coming times. Dr. Kanwaldeep, Dean Academics also
donated plants like Niazbo, Basil, Lemongrass, Tulsi etc. for the Aushadhi
Upvan. Plantation of aromatic plants was done by Mrs. Meenakshi Sayal, School Coordinator
and faculty of Botany Department i.e. Dr. Shaveta Chauhan, Dr. Nitika Kapoor,
Ms. Harpreet, Dr. Shuchi Sharma, Dr. Nitika Kapoor, Incharge, DD Pant Botanical
Society laid thrust on the importance of medicinal plants. Ms. Harpreet brought
various plants of ancient medicinal use. On this occasion Mr. Rajinder and Mr.
Bechan Lal were also present. Principal Prof. Dr. Mrs. Ajay Sareen appreciated
the efforts of Botany Department.
