HMV celebrated Mother’s Day in an Innovative manner

Under the able guidance and encouraging support of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen, the NSS Unit and DD Pant Botanical Society  celebrated Mothers’ Day by organizing Stem Cell Awareness Drive in collaboration with Datri Organisation. More than 50 students along with Principal, Faculty and staff registered for being potential Stem Cell Donors.  Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen said that International Mothers Day and International Thalassemia Day fall on the same day. To do a blood stem cell transplant, every Thalassemia patient needs a perfect matched unrelated blood stem cell donor to donate lifesaving cells and to give a second chance at life. Many children are waiting to find their 1in 10,000 to One in a Million blood stem cell donor who could save their life. So, HMV has decided to support the cause of Thalassemia patients by potentially giving the gift of life just like mothers do. She further added that gift of life is the biggest gift and the mother is the biggest donor.                 Dr. Anjana Bhatia, Head, PG Department of Botany said that by donating our stem cells we may change the life of a Thalassemia or  blood cancer patient waiting for a donor. On this occasion, Dr. Nitika Kapoor gave the vote of thanks. Dr. Shaveta, Ms. Harpreet, Ms. Ramandeep, Dr. Shuchi and NSS Programme Officer Ms. Harmanu were also present.
