The valour,
courage and sacrifices exhibited by Indian soldiers in the Kargil War left an
indelible impression over Indian history and every Indian heart. To celebrate
the chivalry of those brave martyrs, Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar
organized an interactive session with war heroes in association with Rotary
Club of Jalandhar and NCC Group Headquarters with the inspiring support of Principal
Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen. The guests of session were Kargil Heroes Honarary
Captain Raghunath Singh, Vir Chakra Awardee and Subedar Sarwan Singh, Seva
Model Awardee along with Dr. Vijay Oberoi, Secretary Rotary Club, Dr. Ashok
Pruthi, Member Local Managing Committee and Rotaract Sh. Sanjay Kumar.
Principal Dr. Ajay Sareen extended a green welcome to the worthy guests and honoured
them with silver salvers and paintings. The event began with lighting of lamp
and DAV Anthem. Saluting to the martyrs and soldiers, Dr. Ajay Sareen,
encouraged the NCC Cadets to take inspiration from their lives. She motivated
the cadets to imbibe the qualities of dedication, sincerity and passion during
their stay in the CATC camp at HMV. She also expressed her thanks to Mrs.
Nupur, President Rotary Club who organized the event successfully. Amidst the
energetic beats of the drums and Chants of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”, Captain
Raghunath Singh narrated the glorious tale of winning over the enemy. He told
in detail about how they recaptured all the posts taken over by the Pakistan
soldiers. His description left the audience in awe and he received standing
ovation from the cadets. Another standing ovation was given to Subedar Sarwan
Singh, who made the auditorium echo with his vigour and energy. He told about
the challenges and difficult circumstances faced during the war. He said that
during the war soldiers focus only on the enemy and are not afraid to give up
their lives for the country. After that Rotary Club honoured Captain Raghunath
Singh, Subedar Sarwan Singh and Principal Dr. Ajay Sareen. Bhavesh presented
the description of Kargil War through slide show and Cadet Komal hummed
patriotic songs on guitar. Dr. Ashok Pruthi presented an emotional poem on the martyrs
and thanked the organizers for their support. Around 550 cadets from different
states who are attending CATC Camp formed the huge audience for the event. The
celebrations concluded with the recital of National Anthem. The coordinators of
the event were Lt. Sonia Mahindru and Mrs. Purnima. The stage was conducted by
Dr. Anjana Bhatia.
