The beautiful glimpse of rich Punjabi Culture
and the inspiring life history of the world renowned novelist, song writer and
poet Sh. Nanak Singh Ji were witnessed at the event Kuchh Pal - Novelist Nanak Singh Di Yaad De Naal organized at HMV
Collegiate Sr. Sec. School, Jalandhar under the able guidance of Principal
Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen. The main guest of the event Sardar Kanwaljit Singh Suri, son of legendary Punjabi novelist
Sh. Nanak Singh ji, showered his blessings by acquainted us with richly laden
creative life history of the great novelist. The event was commenced with lamp lighting.
The chief guest was given a green welcome with a planter by School Coordinator
Mrs. Meenakshi Sayal, Head of Punjabi Department Mrs. Navroop, Mrs. Kuljeet
Kaur and Mrs. Veena Arora. He was presented with a beautiful portrait of Sh.
Nanak Singh Ji drawn by a student Jasnoor which he admired a lot. Principal
Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay sareen heartily welcomed Sardar Kanwaljit Singh Suri ji by saying that his
presence in HMV is indeed a blissful experience. She praised the exhibition and
one act play prepared by the students. She inspired the students to respect the
elders as they are the real treasure to enlighten us with wisdom and felt
elated over the positive transition period in which media, society and family
are playing pivotal role. She very optimistically believes that the youth of
today would bring a new dawn in which the freedom brought to us by the
sacrifices of great freedom fighters Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev
would be cherished by all. Mrs. Navroop said that these kinds of interactive
session are gracious learnings in which we get benefitted from the experiences
of glorious personalities. She paid her gratitude to Principal Dr. Ajay Sareen and
School Coordinator for their constant motivation to arrange such sorts of
events which showcase rich Punjabi culture and heritage. The folk songs sung by
the students adorned in dazzling Punjabi attire were received great appreciation.
Sardar Kanwaljit Singh Suri made us
familiar with the hardships and struggle faced by Sh. Nanak Singh ji since his
childhood. He said that poems cultivated in his heart spontaneously. Every
moment of his life story inspired us to be charitable, humble, simple and down
to earth. Even at the highest pinnacle of his success, he gave the credit to
the blessings of his mother which touched the heart of everybody. On this
occasion, the students presented one-act play inspired from the works of Sh.
Nanak Singh Ji in which the pondering issues of the society- poverty, unemployment,
rising prices, corruption and dowry system were shown. The thought provoking
play received much applause. The student of SSC-2, Palak recited herself
composed poem based on the life history of Sh. Nanak Singh Ji. Jahanvi Kapoor
and Stuti of SSC-2 narrated prose on the artistically elevated life of Sh.
Nanak Singh ji and made the event more wonderful. The School Coordinator Mrs.
Meenakshi Sayal averred that these interactive discourses open new vistas of
understanding in the mind space of young learners. These events foster
engagement of the students with literature which is the repertoire of truth and
beauty, which help in the holistic development of the students. In the string
of taking initiative, HMV Collegiate School initiated the concept of donating a
book to the library by each faculty member on their birthday as in the previous
year it was Each one, Plant one was successfully accomplished. The stage was
conducted by Ms. Arvinder Kaur. The faculty members of college and collegiate
sections were present and graced the event.
