In
continuation with a seven day NSS special camp, the fifth day was commenced
under the able guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen with full of
enthusiasm. This day, as the tradition of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya
Jalandhar, began with DAV Gaan followed by NSS song. On the fifth day of NSS
camp, the prime objective was to visit the village Gakhal again and impart the
awareness pertaining to the segregation of wet garbage and dry garbage and
e-linking of voter card with Adhar card between the people of the village. NSS
volunteers visited approximate 73 houses of the village and made the residents
aware regarding the distribution of domestic waste into wet and dry. Further,
volunteers asked and provided the information about the e-linking of voter card
with Adhar card to the members of the village Gakhal. S. Sukhwant Singh-Sarpanch
of the village and Kulwinder Singh (State awardee)-General Secretary of
Gurudwara Hemkunt Sahib Gakhal welcomed and thanked the NSS unit of the college
to visit their village again and making the residents of their village aware
about the segmentation of domestic waste and e-linking of essential documents.
After returning from the village, NSS volunteers had lunch and depicted their
creativity and intelligence in the eco-park of the college. They cleaned the
whole eco-park and planted new plants with the help of waste bottles.
Volunteers made the park best out of the waste and maintained
the data of the trees planted in the campus enthusiastically. Principal Prof.
Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen appreciated the work of volunteers done in the village
and eco-park. Programme Officer Dr. Veena Arora told the students about
National Service Scheme and briefed about the various competitions which will
be organized in the campus next day. Ms. Harmanu said that youth is power of nation. She also assisted
volunteers in village and in eco-park of the college. On this occasion, other
members of NSS unit Ms. Bhawana and Mr. Parminder Singh were also present.
