Mahila Maha Vidyalaya organized on ICSSR sponsored National Seminar on
“Fostering Sustainable Investment Behaviour : A Paradigm Shift towards Green
Economics Growth” under the dynamic and visionary command of Principal Prof.
Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen. Prof. Balwinder Singh, University School of Financial
Studies, GNDU Amritsar presided over the seminar as the Chief Guest. Prof.
Rishi Raj Sharma, Associate Dean Department of Business Management, GNDU
Regional Campus, Gurdaspur graced the occasion as Keynote Speaker. The galaxy
of dignitaries included the name of Dr. Abhay Jain, Associate Professor Sri Ram
College of Commerce, Delhi, Dr. Rupinder Bir Kaur, Associate Professor Punjab
University, Ludhiana, Dr. Pooja Mehta , IQAC Coordinator and Associate
Professor Department of Commerce and Management, Sri Aurobindo College of
Department of Commerce and Management, Ludhiana, Dr. Sandeep Singh, Asstt.
Prof. University School of Applied Management Punjabi University Patiala and
Dr. Naveen Pandhi, Asstt. Prof. PG Govt. College of Chandigarh. The seminar
began with lighting the lamp of knowledge and recital of DAV Gaan followed by welcoming
the worthy guests with green planters and mementoes. Introducing the concept
note, Mrs. Meenu Kohli, Head of PG Department of Commerce and Management and
Coordinator of seminar offered a warm welcome to the guests and highlighted
that the seminar is dedicated to Atam Nirbhar Movement of Govt. and to people
who have and will initiate changes in
society. She remarked that one way to contribute towards sustainability is to
spread awareness among masses. The Head of the Institution, Principal Prof. Dr.
(Mrs.) Ajay Sareen extended words of welcome in the honour of the learned panel
of the day. She expressed that the seminar is a unique attempt to being
together students and scholars to think, reflect and act towards a sustained
future. She emphasized that real purpose is to contribute constructively and
put theories to practice. Our careful and extensive planning at the present
towards green economy will be our gift to the future generations. The current
times require that we focus on maintaining and sustaining things in all walks
of work as well as life. In the Presidential address, Prof. Balwinder Singh
congratulated HMV for organizing the event and appreciated its innovative green
and welfare efforts, which has established its glory far and wide. Equating
sustainability with survivability, he voiced that our policies of economic
development and progress need to be in sync with climate and environment.
Interrogating the current situation he questioned what has prompted us to
arrange such seminars. He stressed on the importance of social equality and
good governance. He averred that every social and professional activity of
humans is linked to nature. So even a little change in environment will reflect
back on humans. He concluded with a
stern statement that we need fine culture instead of refined culture. In
the Keynote address Dr. Rishi Raj expounded in detail about theories of sustainability.
Quoting religious texts, he urged the listeners to inculcate spirit of
brotherhood and harmony in place of competing with each other. He stimulated
the students to work towards something which can be progress in real terms. The
inauguration ended on a note of thanks by Dr. Shallu Batra. After this a series
of technical sessions were held to deliberate upon the topic. In the
Valedictory session Dr. Abhay Jain detailed on the concept of sustainable
development and provided insights into the implementation of sustainable
policies. Around 200 delegates took part in the seminar and presented thought
provoking views. Dr. Minakshi Duggal Mehta presented vote of thanks. The stage
was hosted by Dr. Anjana Bhatia. Principal Dr. Ajay Sareen congratulated the
faculty of Commerce for the successful conduct of the event.
