Maha Vidyalaya celebrated “National Science Day-2024” in collaboration and
support of Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST), National
Council for Science & Technology (NCTSC), Dept. of Science & Technology
(DST), Govt. of India on the theme ‘Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat’
under the able guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen. The day witnessed
the celebration of many events – quiz, fancy dress and slogan writing organized by C.V.
Raman Science Society. The event started with the witnessing of live
celebration of National Science Day at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The themes for
slogan writing were Artificial Intelligence, Astronomy, Biofuels and Renewable
Energy, Semiconductors, Climate Research, Space Research and Biotechnology.
Judges for the slogan writing were Dr. Jitender and Dr. Harpreet Singh. First
prize in slogan writing was given to Ms. Priyanka (M.Sc Botany Sem-4); second
prize to Ms. Gurleen (B.Sc Medical Sem-2), third prize to Yashika Arora (B.Sc
Medical Sem-6). Consolation prize went to Ms. Nancy, Ms Hadiya, Ms. Amar Kaur,
Ms. Khushi and Ms Roshni. Quiz was also conducted in which eight teams
participated. Dr. Sakshi and Mrs. Ramandeep conducted the quiz. First prize
went to Ms. Aditi, Ms. Avantika and Ms. Priyanka (M.Sc Bot. Sem-4); second
prize to Ms. Bhawna, Ms. Trishla and Ms. Gurleen (B.Sc Med. Sem-2). The fancy
dress competition was conducted on the theme of ‘Women in Science &
Renowned Scientists’. In this competition, twenty-six students participated.
Judges of the event were Mrs. Deepshikha and Dr. Shaveta Chauhan. In the event,
first prize went to Ms. Shreya Rana (M.Sc Bot. Sem-4); second prize to Ms.
Jasleen (B.Sc Non-Med Sem-4); third prize to Ms. Bhawna (B.Sc Med. Sem-2).
Consolation prizes went to Ms. Sahibpreet (M.Sc Phy. Sem-2) and Ms. Prachi
(B.Sc Biotech Sem-4). The chief guest of the event was Dr. T. V. Venkateswaran,
IISER, Mohali. He was given floral welcome by Madam Principal Sareen. Principal
Dr. Sareen on the occasion wished for fruitful National Science Day. She
Congratulated all the Science Faculty for successful organization of such a big
and creative event. Mrs Saloni Sharma, incharge C.V. Raman Science Society gave
the welcome speech and highlighted the importance of celebration of National
Science Day. Dr. T.V. Venkateswaran, the chief guest, talked about Cosmos Big Quesetions. He talked about universe, its formation, Dark matter which constitute 80% of universe. Prizes were given to the winners. Mrs Deepshikha, Faculty Head
Sciences, gave the vote of thanks. Dr. Seema Marwaha, Dean Academics & HoD
Zoology Dept., Dr. Anjana Bhatia, Dean Innovation & HoD Botany Dept., Mrs.
Purnima, Mr. Sumit, Mr. Sushil, Ms. Harpreet, Ms. Tanish, Ms. Alka, Mrs Ekta,
Ms. Hemlata, Ms. Tanuja were also present.
