Jalandhar, witnessed the inauguration of a 3-day residential workshop on
"Building Skills for Conducting Nature Camps" under the MoEFCC's
Environment Education Programme in collaboration with Punjab State Council of
Science & Technology (PSCST).
Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen welcomed the esteemed guests and
participants and expressed gratitude to PSCST, saying, “The perpetual trust of
PSCST in HMV reinforces our commitment to environmental stewardship and
academic excellence.” She was delighted to have participation from more than 9
districts of Punjab. Retd. Justice NK Sud, Chairman, Local Advisory Committee
called it a golden opportunity to enhance knowledge and skills. Under the expert leadership of Dr. KS Bath (Joint
Director, PSCST), this workshop aims to develop innovative approaches for
fostering environmental consciousness through nature camps. Dr. KS Bath called this workshop as a step forward in
empowering educators to guide future generations toward environmental
sustainability. Resource persons, including Dr. BK Tyagi (Ex-Senior Scientist,
Vigyan Prasar, DST), highlighted the importance of experiential learning and
congratulated the institution for adopting sustainable practices. Dr. Aasaq
Hussain emphasized building awareness through engaging activities, while Dr.
Kuldeep Gupta underscored the role of educators as environmental change-makers.
Dr. Mandakini highlighted the shared mission of PSCST and HMV to safeguard the
environment, reflecting the collective effort to inspire action for a greener
tomorrow. Nodal Officer, Dr. Anjana Bhatia, stated that the workshop aims to
enhance the skills of teachers in conducting impactful nature-based programs.
Dr. Seema Marwaha, Dean Academics, added that the initiative equips educators
with tools to seamlessly integrate environmental education into their teaching
practices. Various workshops on ‘Autograph of tree, Leaf zoo Designing, Your
own Nature kit’ were organized in the afternoon session. All the participants and
faculty members attended the sessions enthusiastically. The guests were given
Guard of Honour by NCC cadets. The performances by Department of Music and
Dance brought more colour to the event.
