The Eco Club and Institution
Innovation Council of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya organized a successful one
day workshop on “Reusing the Textile Waste for Cloth Bag Making”. The State
Nodal Agency was the Environment Information, Awareness, Capacity Building and
Livelihood Programme (CIACP) Punjab, Punjab State Council for Science and
Technology in collaboration with Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate
Change, Govt. of India. The institution gratefully acknowledges the invaluable
support extended by Er. Pritpal Singh, Executive Director, PSCST, whose
encouragement has consistently motivated educational institutions to adopt
sustainable practices. Special appreciation is due to Dr. K.S. Bath, Joint
Director PSCST, for his visionary leadership in promoting environmental
awareness and livelihood based green initiatives. Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.)
Ajay Sareen welcomes guests with planters. She briefed the objective of the
workshop and stressed on innovation based on sustainability. Coordinator of the
workshop and Dean Innovation, HMV Dr. Anjana Bhatia told the audience about the
initiatives taken by HMV in the field of sustainability. She said that we
should adopt recycle, reuse and downcycle. We are rather adopting the throwaway
culture, which should be declined. Coordinator Capacity Building Programme for
Environment Problems run by ECP Ms. Ranjeet talked about Green livelihood with
employment opportunities. She said that today’s workshop is action oriented
which is focused “Conscious living IT officer EIACP, Ms. Alisha briefed about
“Conscious living.” Green Sparrows Project Direector Ms. Ramanpreet Kaur told
about the work of recycling done by
Green Sparrows. Head of Design Department Dr. Rakhi Mehta presented vote of thanks.
During the Hands-on-training session, Dr. Rakhi Mehta, Mrs. Rishav and Mrs.
Navneeta gave demo of cloth bag and planter making in an innovative style. More
than 100 women and girls from Sadana village
and HMV participated in the workshop. The workshop was a complete
success. An exhibition of bags was also organized on this occasion.
