HMV Environment Club and Department of Zoology at Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar organized an Eco-Friendly Rakhi celebration, under the visionary leadership of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen. This unique initiative was designed to cultivate environmental awareness among students by encouraging the use of sustainable and biodegradable materials in festive traditions. As part of the celebration, a series of competitions were held including Eco-Friendly Rakhi Making, Slogan Writing, and Eco-Themed Rangoli Making. These events provided students with an opportunity to express their creativity while promoting ecological responsibility. Participants from various academic streams enthusiastically engaged in the activities, utilizing materials such as dried leaves, paper, cotton, jute, seeds, and other recyclable items. The judging panel for the competitions included Dr. Rakhi, Head of the Department of Design, and Dr. Sakshi Verma, Incharge of the Environment Club. They commended the students for their innovative ideas and dedication to sustainability. All participants received e-certificates in recognition of their efforts, while the winners were awarded. A heartfelt moment during the event included students presenting handmade greeting cards to Principal Dr. Ajay Sareen and tying eco-friendly Rakhis on her wrist, symbolizing their pledge to celebrate Rakshabandhan in a sustainable way. Principal Madam emphasized the importance of integrating environmental values into cultural traditions, reinforcing the commitment of College to sustainability. Dr. Seema Marwaha, Dean Academics and Head of Department of Zoology, also highlighted how such events not only spark creativity but also deepen students’ understanding of eco-conscious living. The event was successfully coordinated by Environment Club incharges Dr. Sakshi Verma and Mr. Ravi Kumar, with support from Lab Technician Mr. Sachin, who ensured smooth arrangements for the celebration.
