HMV organised Short-Term Certificate Course on Vermiculture and Vermicomposting

A short-term course on Vermiculture and Vermicomposting was successfully organised by PG Department of Zoology under Skilled Courses Hub, Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar. The course aimed to impart practical knowledge and hands-on training to students on eco-friendly waste management practices through the scientific use of earthworms for compost production. During the course, students were trained in the principles and techniques of vermiculture, preparation of vermicompost units, maintenance of optimum conditions, and effective utilisation of kitchen waste. As a part of the practical component, the students successfully prepared high-quality vermicompost using kitchen waste. The activity not only enhanced their practical skills but also sensitised them towards sustainable living and environmental conservation. Each participant prepared and submitted a detailed project report documenting the process, observations, and outcomes of vermicompost preparation. On the successful completion of the course, Principal, Dr. Ekta Khosla, congratulated the course coordinators Mrs. Binoo Gupta, Dean Academics and Head of PG Department of Zoology, Dr. Seema Marwaha, Course In-charge Dr. Sakshi Verma, and Course Instructor Mr. Ravi Kumar for their effective planning, guidance, and execution, which ensured the successful completion of the course. The course proved to be highly beneficial, equipping students with practical skills and encouraging them to adopt environmentally responsible practices in their daily lives.
