PG Department of Zoology of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya,
Jalandhar organized a highly informative ‘Workshop on Medical Lab
Technology’ in collaboration with Synergy Lab., Jalandhar under the expert
guidance of Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Ekta Khosla. The
event commenced with a warm welcome of the distinguished resource
persons, Dr. Deeksha, Director and Consultant Pathologist at Synergy Lab.,
and Mr. Jagjiwan and Ms. Peher, Senior Lab Technicians
at Synergy Lab. Dr. Deeksha, delivered an insightful lecture
and elaborated on various haematological techniques performed in
laboratories, detailing their procedures, quality control measures and
necessary precautions. She also explained key aspects of histological
analysis, enabling students to understand the scientific accuracy and precision
required in diagnostic practices. Further enriching the
workshop, Mr. Jagjiwan and Ms. Peher conducted
hands-on training session. Participants were given practical exposure to a
variety of laboratory techniques including staining of blood smears, ESR
(Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate), and separation of serum and plasma from blood
samples. Experiments such as paper chromatography, thin layer chromatography and
gel electrophoresis, were also demonstrated by Dr. Sakshi
Verma and Mr. Ravi Kumar, Assistant Professors, PG Department of
Zoology and conveners of the workshop, making the session highly
interactive and skill-oriented. The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation
from students of various colleges accompanied by their teachers, creating a dynamic
and engaging learning
environment. Principal, Dr. (Mrs.) Ekta Khosla appreciated
the efforts of the organizers and emphasised on the importance of
such workshops, which play important role in skill development and in
preparing students to meet industry demands. Dean Academics and Head
of PG Department of Zoology, Dr. Seema Marwaha, while
addressing the gathering highlighted that such collaborative initiatives provide
valuable exposure and help bridging the gap between theoretical
concepts and practical application. . Lab technician Mr.
Sachin and student volunteers from B.Sc. Medical managed all the
arrangements, ensuring the workshop was conducted smoothly.
