Chandrayaan-Vipnet Club of the PG Department of Physics, Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar celebrated the National Space Day with great enthusiasm to sensitize students to space science, exploration, and India’s remarkable achievements in the field of space research. Dr. Saloni Sharma, Head of the PG Department of Physics, briefed the students about the significant milestones achieved by ISRO and highlighted the importance of celebrating National Space Day. As part of the celebrations, an online quiz competition on Space Science and Astronomy was organized to enhance students’ knowledge of planets, satellites, space missions, and astronomical developments. The department also screened the movie Spacewalker, based on the historic Voskhod 2 space mission of March 18, 1965, during which Soviet cosmonaut Alexei Leonov became the first human to undertake a spacewalk. The film highlighted the challenges and risks involved in space exploration and inspired students to develop greater interest in space science. Students participated enthusiastically in both activities and displayed keen curiosity and interest. Dr. Sushil and Dr. Simmi made the necessary arrangements and ensured the smooth conduct of the programme. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Ekta Khosla appreciated the efforts of the department and encouraged students to nurture scientific curiosity and remain updated about India’s latest achievements in space science and exploration.
