Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, celebrated NSS foundation Day with great
zeal, enthusiasm, and a spirit of service under the insightful guidance of the
Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Ekta Khosla. The programme was organized by all the three
NSS units of the institution to sensitize students pertaining to the objectives
of the National Service Scheme (NSS), to realize social responsibilities, and
the significance of community service. The programme was commenced with an
informative session highlighting the objectives and importance of NSS. The students
were encouraged to imbibe the spirit of the NSS motto, “Not Me But You,” in their daily lives. They were apprised that NSS
is not merely an extracurricular activity but an important platform for
fostering social responsibility, cooperation, discipline, leadership, and a
spirit of service among people. As a part of the celebrations, NSS volunteers
organized an awareness rally and participated in an oath ceremony. The students
also greeted the teaching and non-teaching members of the institution by presenting
them badges and distributing sweets. Through the rally and other activities,
the volunteers spread awareness about cleanliness, environmental conservation,
water conservation, health awareness, and social welfare. Volunteers also
emphasized the importance of collective efforts to maintain a clean environment
and protect the nature. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Ekta Khosla congratulated the NSS
volunteers and stated that an active participation of youth is essential for
the progress of society. Further, Dr. Khosla remarked that engaging in
community service during students’ life not only contribute to the overall
personality development of students but also inculcate human values and a sense
of responsibility in them. Moreover, Principal Khosla encouraged the students
to continue participating actively in social welfare initiatives in future. The
programme was concluded with the NSS volunteers taking a pledge to contribute
towards community service, environmental protection, and nation-building. The
entire programme strengthened the spirit of service, cooperation, and social
responsibility among the students. NSS Programme Officers Dr. Jyoti Gogia, Ms.
Harmanu Paul, and Mrs. Alka, along with Dr. Sandeep Kaur, were also present on
the occasion. The event concluded with a strong message of service, compassion,
and collective responsibility towards society and the nation.
