Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, observed International
Literacy Day with the aim of sensitizing students to the importance of
literacy, education, and lifelong learning. The programme was organized by the
PG Department of Economics under the insightful guidance and support of Principal
Dr. (Mrs.) Ekta Khosla. Graced by the Principal's presence, the occasion began
with her address to the students. Dr. Khosla highlighted the role of literacy
in empowering individuals and fostering social and economic progress. Further,
Principal Khosla encouraged the students to embrace education as a lifelong
journey and to play an active role in spreading awareness and promoting
education in society. To mark the occasion, a poster-making competition was
organized on the theme "International Literacy Day." The activity
gave students an opportunity to express their thoughts creatively while
highlighting the significance of literacy. Dr. Neeru Bharti , Head the
Department of Fine Arts, and Dr. Shallu Batra Head the Department of Economics
judged the competition. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Shallu Batra, who
guided the students and ensured the smooth conduct of the event. Faculty
members Mrs. Jyotika, Ms. Harmanu, Ms. Shruti, and Ms. Kashish extended their
support and cooperation. Student volunteers Himani, Ridhi, and Nandani
contributed actively to the successful organization of the programme. The event
concluded with a strong message that literacy is the foundation of empowerment,
equality, and sustainable development, inspiring students to contribute towards
building an educated, aware, and progressive society.
