The 2nd INSPIRE Internship Scheme Camp
was inaugurated at Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya. This 5-day camp is sponsored by the
Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. In the inaugural session, Deputy Commissioner
Kamal Kishore Yadav was the Chief Guest .
Mayor of Jalandhar Sunil Jyoti was the special guest. Principal Dr. Rekha Kalia Bhardwaj welcomed
them with a bouquet of flowers. The
students of Music Department presented Saraswati Vandana. In the inaugural session, eminent scientist from Indian Insitute of
Science, Bangalore, Dr. Uday Maitra and
eminent scientist from Vigyan Prasar New Delhi, Dr. Arvind C. Ranade were also
present. Principal Dr. Rekha Kalia Bhardwaj
welcomed the guests and said that scientific temperament is very
important. Everything in this world
includes science but science without humanity is useless.
Deputy
Commissioner Kamal Kishore Yadav said that we learn new things everyday but
right temperament is required. Life
should be a combination of discipline and experience. The process of learning is dynamic but we
should learn the right things. We should
come out of our comfort zone and inspire others also. Mayor Mr. Sunit Jyoti said that Science
affects our life in many ways. In the
coming time, the competition is so hard that we have to compete like
robots. Camp Convener Mr. Harpreet Singh
told the students that in this camp, students will be facilitated by lectures,
demonstrations and hands on practical.
In this camp, around 200 students from 22 schools of Jalandhar and other
districts are participating. In the
first and second session, Dr. Uday Maitra gave his lecture on ‘Fun with
Chemistry’. He said that Chemistry is an
important part of our daily life. He
also told about do’s and don’ts while performing Chemistry Experiment. In the 3rd session, Dr. Arvind C.
Ranade from Vigyan Prasar gave his lecture on ‘Our Sun’. He told about the life cycle of Sun and how
it affects our life. He said that our
sun will die in coming years. He also
discussed unsolved problems of Sun. The students performed practicals in
different groups of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology and
Bioinformatics. In this occasion, Dean
Academics Mrs. Meenakshi Syal and all the heads of the science departments were
also present.
