Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya is organizing five day INSPIRE Science Internship
Camp. During the second day of the
camp, in the first session, Dr. Rohit Mehra, Head of Physics Deptt., National
Institute of Technology Jalandhar was the resource person. His topic was ‘basic advances in nuclear
Physics’. He told the students about
Photo Electric effect. He also discussed
Quantum effect. He discussed various
kinds of forces like nuclear force, electro magnetic force, weak force and
gravity force. He also told that the
various effects of radio activity on human health. In the second session, Dr. Jagbir Singh, Head
of Zoology and Environment Science, Punjabi University Patiala was the resource
person. His topic was ‘Biodiversity –
The essence of life’. He told that there
are total 17 biodiverse countries in the world and India is 12th in the
list. He said that biodiversity is
essential for human well being. He also
talked about the pollution level in the environment.
In the 3rd session, Dr.
Manoj Kumar from GNDU Amritsar was the resource person. His topic was ‘Journey of Organic
Chemistry’. He simplified the complex
research tools used in organic chemistry to promote the interest of the
students towards basic sciences.
After 3 regressive lectures,
students got hands on knowledge in different fields of sciences like Chemistry,
Physics, Botany, Zoology, Biotechnology and Bioinformatics. They visited different labs and performed
experiments. Experiments were so
designed that they invoke interest of students in these fields.
On this occasion, Camp Coordinator
Mr. Harpreet Singh, Dean Academics Mrs. Meenakshi Syal and all the science
teachers were present.
