Women Empowerment Cell of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya
organized a lecture on Transformation Pedagogies & Politics towards Gender
Neutral Cities. The resource person was
Dr. Kulwinder Kaur, Associate Professor, Deptt. of Sociology, Jamia Millia
Islamia Central University, New Delhi.
Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen welcomed the resource person with
a bouquet of flowers. Resource Person
Dr. Kulwinder Kaur said that Gender and space are social constructions. Dr. Kaur explicitly explained the concept of
Gender Neutral Cities and urban space.
She also talked about the measures to be taken by institutions for
making the place safer for girls. She
said that it is our perception towards gender and the place we live in which
makes it safe or unsafe. She also quoted
examples from her experiences of universities in other countries. She said that it is through the process of
socialization that we learn gender roles.

Coordinator Mrs. Meenakshi Syal, Dr. Ekta Khosla, Cell members Mrs. Kuljeet
Kaur and Dr. Meenakshi Duggal other staff members were also present.
ਹੰਸ ਰਾਜ ਮਹਿਲਾ ਮਹਾਵਿਦਿਆਲਾ, ਜਲੰਧਰ ਦੇ ਵੂਮੈਨ ਏਮਪਾਵਰਮੇਂਟ ਸੈਲ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਟ੍ਰਾਂਸਫਾਰਮੇਸ਼ਨ ਪੈਡਾਗਾਗਿਜ਼ ਏਂਡ ਪਾਲਿਟਿਕਸ ਟੂਵਰਡਜ ਨਯੂਟ੍ਰਲ ਸਿਟੀਜ਼ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਤੇ ਲੈਕਚਰ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਲੈਕਚਰ ਦੇ ਰਿਸੋਰਸ ਪਰਸਨ ਜਾਮਿਯਾ ਮਿਲਿਯਾ ਇਸਲਾਮਿਆ ਸੈਂਟ੍ਰਲ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਨਵੀਂ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਦੇ ਸਮਾਜ ਸ਼ਾਸਤਰ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੀ ਐਸੋਸਿਏਟ ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ ਡਾ. ਕੁਲਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੌਰ ਸਨ। ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਅਜੇ ਸਰੀਨ ਨੇ ਫੁੱਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਗੁਲਦਸਤਾ ਭੇਂਟ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਵਾਗਤ ਕੀਤਾ। ਰਿਸੋਰਸ ਪਰਸਨ ਡਾ. ਕੁਲਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜੈਂਡਰ ਅਤੇ ਸਥਾਨ ਸਮਾਜ ਦੇ ਬਣਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਜੈਂਡਰ ਨਯੂਟ੍ਰਲ ਸਿਟੀਜ਼ ਅਤੇ ਅਰਬਨ ਸਪੇਸ ਦੇ ਸਦੰਰਭ ਦੀ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕੁੜੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਤ ਸਥਾਨ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਸੰਸਥਾਵਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਚੱਕੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਕਦਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਵੀ ਗੱਲ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜੈਂਡਰ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਇਹ ਇਹ ਸਾਡੀ ਹੀ ਸੋਚ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਾਡੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਥਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਤ ਜਾਂ ਅਸੁਰੱਖਿਤ ਬਣਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਡਾ. ਕੁਲਵਿੰਦਰ ਨੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀਜ਼ ਦੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਵੀ ਸਾਂਝੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਅਤੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਸਾਮਾਜਿਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਕ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਦੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਹੀ ਅਸੀ ਜੈਂਡਰ ਦੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਸਿਖਦੇ ਹਾਂ।
ਮੰਚ ਸੰਚਾਲਨ ਵੂਮੈਨ ਏਮਪਾਵਰਮੇਂਟ ਸੈਲ ਦੀ ਇੰਚਾਰਜ਼ ਡਾ. ਆਸ਼ਮੀਨ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਕੀਤਾ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਡੀਲ ਅਕਾਦਮਿਕ ਅਤ ਯੂਜੀਸੀ ਕੋਆਰਡੀਨੇਟਰ ਸ਼੍ਰੀਮਤੀ ਮੀਨਾਕਸ਼ੀ ਸਿਆਲ, ਡਾ. ਏਕਤਾ ਖੋਸਲਾ, ਸੈਲ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਸ਼੍ਰੀਮਤੀ ਕੁਲਜੀਤ ਕੌਰ, ਡਾ. ਮੀਨਾਕਸ਼ੀ ਦੁੱਗਲ ਅਤੇ ਹੌਰ ਸਟਾਫ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਵੀ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਸਨ।
