Dr. Upma Bagai (Prof., Dept.
of Zoology, PU, Chandigarh) was the resource person for ongoing 7-day DBT
sponsored summer in biological sciences at Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya,
Jalandhar. She explained the protocol of isolation of lyphocytes from blood
samples. Students themselves isolated cells in laboratory using the Trypan Blue
Assay. Students also gained the
knowledge about flow cytometry. An interactive session between students and
resource person led to increase in the knowledge of the students while on the
training session; Dr. Ekta Khosla explained the instrumentation, principle,
working and application of FTIR to students.
Dr. N.K. Srivastastva (NIT,
Jalandhar) was the resource person for the ongoing summer school. He delivered talk on environmental
biotechnology covering various aspects like BOD, COD, Biosensors, Biofuels,
Waste Water treatment, bioremediation, bioreactors and biodegradable plastics.
Dr. Srivastva explained in very simplified manner about removal of pollutants
from environment by using microorganisms.
A hand on training session was conducted by Prof. Disha and Prof. Swati,
where students explored various biotechnological tools like PCR, DNA isolation,
Agrose gel electrophoresis and microbial isolation from different soil sample.

ਹੰਸ ਰਾਜ ਮਹਿਲਾ ਮਹਾਵਿਦਿਆਲਿਆ ਜਲੰਧਰ ਦੇ ਵਿਹੜੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ (ਸ੍ਰੀਮਤੀ) ਅਜੇ ਸਰੀਨ ਦੀ ਯੋਗ ਨਿਗਰਾਣੀ ਹੇਠ ਜੈਵਿਕ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਵਲੋਂ ਡੀ.ਬੀ.ਟੀ ਦੇ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਨਾਲ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ਗਰਮੀ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਿਵਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਡਾ. ਉਪਮਾ ਬਗਈ, ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਜੀਵ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਵਿਭਾਗ, ਪ³ਜਾਬ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਚੰਡੀਗੜ• ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਲੱਡ ਸੈਂਪਲ ਨਾਲ ਲਿਮਫੋਸਾਇਟ ਸੈਲ ਨੂੰ ਅਲੱਗ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਤਰੀਕਾ ਦੱਸਿਆ। ਜੀਵ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਯੋਗਸ਼ਾਲਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥਣਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਟਾਈਪੇਨ ਬ ਦੀ ਤਕਨੀਕ ਨਾਲ ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰ´ਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ। ਡਾ. ਉਪਮਾ ਬਗਈ ਨੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਭਿੰਨ ਤਕਨੀਕਾਂ ਜੈਸ ਫਲੋ ਸਾਇਟੋਮਿਟ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਅਵਗਤ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ। ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਕ ਵਾਰਤਾਲਾਪ ਸੈਸ਼ਨ ਵੀ ਹੋਇਆ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਾਧਾ ਹੋਇਆ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਡਾ. ਏਕਤਾ ਖੋਸਲਾ ਨੇ ਐਫ.ਟੀ.ਆਈ.ਆਰ ਦੇ ਸਿਧਾਂਤ, ਕਾਰਜਸ਼ੈਲੀ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਿਭਿੰਨ ਉਪਯੋਗਤਾਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਪਾਇਆ।
ਸ਼ਿਵਿਰ ਦੇ ਤੀਜੇ ਦਿਨ ਡਾ. ਐਨ.ਕੇ. ਸ੍ਰੀਵਾਸਤਵ, ਐਨ.ਆਈ.ਟੀ. ਜਲੰਧਰ ਨੇ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਬਾਇਓਟੈਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ ਦੇ ਵਿਭਿੰਨ ਪਹਿਆਂ ਜਿਵੇ ਬੀ.ਓ.ਡੀ., ਸੀ.ਓ.ਡੀ. ਜੈਵਿਕ ਇੰਧਨ, ਵੇਸਟ ਵਾਟਰ, ਸ਼ੁਧਤਾ, ਬਾਇਓਰੇਏਟਰ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਇਓਗ੍ਰਿਗਰਟੇਬਲ ਪਲਾਸਟਿਕ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਪਾਇਆ। ਡਾ.ਐਨ.ਕੇ. ਸ੍ਰੀਵਾਸਤਵ ਨੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਰਲ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ•ਾਂ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਦੂਸ਼ਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਸੁੱਖਮਜੀਵ ਸਾਡੀ ਇਸ ਕਾਰਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ। ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥਣਾਂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਯੋਗਸ਼ਾਲਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਭਿੰਨ ਬਾਇਓਟੈਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਯੋਗ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪੀ.ਸੀ.ਆਰ., ਡੀ.ਐਨ.ਏ. ਅਲਗਾਵ, ਸੁੱਖਮਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਨਾਲ ਅਲਗਾਵ ਆਦਿ ਦੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀ।
ਸੰਚਾਲਕ ਡਾ. ਸੀਮਾ ਮਰਵਾਹਾ ਨੇ ਮਹਿਮਾਨਾ ਦਾ ਸਵਾਗਤ ਕੀਤਾ। ਡਾ. ਅੰਜਨਾ ਭਾਟੀਆ ਅਤੇ ਡਾ. ਨਿਤੀਕਾ ਨੇ ਮੰਚ ਦਾ ਸੰਚਾਲਣ ਕੀਤਾ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਡਾ. ਸ਼ਵੇਤਾ ਚੌਹਾਨ, ਸ੍ਰੀ ਹਰਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ, ਸ੍ਰੀਮਤੀ ਰਮਨਦੀਪ ਕੌਰ, ਡਾ. ਕਨਿਕਾ, ਸੁਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਵੰਤੀਕਾ, ਹਰਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ, ਜਸਵਿੰਦਰ, ਦਿਸ਼ਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਵਾਤੀ ਵੀ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਸਨ।
