Dr. Harpreet
Singh, Head Department of Bioinformatics at Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya
played a prominent role in the International Conference on Bioinformatics
(INCOB) at YARSI University, Jakarta, Indonesia. He chaired two oral
presentation sessions on the themes “Sequencing and NGS data analysis” and
“Machine Learning, AI and Novel Algorithms”.
His oral presentation on “Characterization of cyclophilin gene family in
wheat and its implications in heat stress response” was under Research
Highlight track was very much appreciated.
He also took part as a panelist, representing India, in the special
breakout session on “Building a regional Galaxy Community and Platform”. The
GALAXY Project is supported in part by NSF, NHGRI, The Huck Institutes of the
Life Sciences, The Institute for Cyber Science at Penn State, and Johns Hopkins
University and has been playing an important role in strengthening Biomedical
Data Analysis and Research.. It was decided to launch the GALAXY ASIAN
communities including the GALAXY India. Dr. Harpreet Singh also attended the
hands-on workshop “An introduction to the Galaxy platform for computational
biology” during this conference.
