National Voters Day Celebrated at HMV



Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya successfully hosted the National Voters’ Day in collaboration with Deputy Commissioner-cum District Officer Jalandhar under the inspiring guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen and Co-ordinator Dr. Anjana Bhatia, Mrs. Nita Malik and Co-coordinator Mrs. Alka. The event began by invoking the blessings of the Almighty with the lighting of lamp and Saraswati Vandana. Principal Dr. Ajay Sareen welcomed the Chief Guest Sh. Varinder Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar and the guests  ADC Development Sh. Kulwant Singh, ACA Sh. Baljinder Singh, SDM Phillaur Sh. Vineet Kumar, DEO Sh. Harwinder Pal Singh, DPRO Sh. Manwinder Singh, Sh. Manjeet Singh, Tehsildar and Sh. Surjit Lal. Welcoming Sh. Varinder Kumar Sharma and other dignitaries Dr. Sareen expressed her delight and thanked District Administration for giving them the honour to host the event every year. She remarked that India holds a distinct place among the democracies of the World. The day brings forth the message to create awareness for voting and we as citizens should accept this responsibility. Responsibility and rights go hand-in-hand and we should pledge to motivate others to cast their votes.
On similar notes  Sh. Varinder Kumar DC, Jalandhar congratulated the youth on Voters Day and motivated them to cast the votes ethically. The maximum participation of voters ensure the progress of the nation. ADC Dev. Sh. Kulwant Singh also encouraged the young students to contribute in the selection of policy makers so that we don’t blame the system afterwords.Sh. Varinder Kumar Sharma received a standing ovation from the audience for receiving the Award for Best Election Management from the Election Commission. It is a matter of great honour that   Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen was honoured by the District officer for creating awareness of voters in Jalandhar. The institution was also honoured for the efforts.
Then the nodal officers and teachers who contributed towards the awareness movement were honoured. The prize winners of Essay Writing. Declamantion, Poster Making and Rangoli were awarded with certificates. Everybody present took a pledge to create awareness for votes. The event concluded with the National Anthem.
