Department of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics of HMV organized International Webinar

The Departments of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya jointly organized an international webinar on the topic “Role of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics in the era of covid-19” under the aegis of Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the college. Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen who highlighted the role of these upcoming fields of life sciences in the present situation of covid-19 regarding development of vaccine against these viruses in her ingural speech of this webinar.   Professor Dr. S. K. Soni from Department of Microbiology, Punjab University Chandigarh, Dr. Anshu Bhardwaj, Senior Scientist, IMTECH, Chandigarh and Prof. Kumardeep Chaudhary from USA were the resource persons. First talk was delivered by Prof. S. K. Soni on the topic “Tools and Technique used in exploiting microbial world for sustainability of mankind” and in his presentation he has explained various microbiological techniques like fermentation technology, culturing techniques of different microbes etc through ppt. The second talk was delivered by Dr. Anshu Bhardwaj on the topic “SAVIOR-SARS COV-2 inhibitor open repository of bioinformatics” and explained various tools used by bioinformatics and their utilities. Third talk was given by Prof. Kumardeep Chaudhary on topic “Emerging role of bioinformatics in COVID-19 era” in which he explained different tools and techniques used in bioinformatics studies like sequencing, identification of genes etc. and their relative usefulness. On this occasion Dr. Neelam Sharma, Dr. Jitender Kumar, Dr. Harpreet Singh, Mr. Sumit Sharma, Ms. Purnima Sharma were also present. In the last vote of thanks was given by Dr. Jitender Kumar. The moderators of the webinar were Dr. Harpreet Singh and Mr. Sumit Sharma. Principal Prof. Dr. Sareen congratulated IQAC Coordinator Dr. Kanwaldeep Kaur, International webinar coordinator Dr. Ramnita Saini Sharda  and Technical Coordinator Mr. Jagjit Bhatia.
