HMV offering skill based community college courses

 


To reduce the gap between higher education and employability, there is an urgent need to equip the youth with requisite knowledge and skills required for employment and entrepreneurship. Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya is offering one year skill based Diploma courses under the initiative of Community College scheme of UGC approved by Ministry of Human Resource Development. HMV is running community college since 2014 very successfully. The courses run under this scheme are Diploma in Medical Lab Technology, Diploma in Journalism and Media, Diploma in Nanny and Elderly Health Care, Diploma in Organic Farming, Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality and Advance Diploma in Fashion Designing. These programs are designed to create employment for women by empowering them with the skills needed for industry. Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen apprised that curriculum for these courses have been designed according to job roles in association with industry partners and approved by Guru Nanak Dev University. Dr. Sareen said that emphasis is given on practical training, industry visits and internships so that there is no gap between Industry and Academics. Students are also assessed by Sector Skill Council and Certification of Sector Skill Council is globally recognized. Mrs. Meenakshi Sayal, Coordinator Community College told that these skill based courses are running under Skill India Mission. She informed that candidate of any age group with qualification of SSC II pass can join Diploma under community college at nominal fee structure of Rs. 1000/- per month. Students can also avail the opportunity to upgrade qualification by joining B.Voc. Second year after completion of diploma course. Students of previous batches shared their views and expressed that training was provided to them from experts of national repute as guest faculty and adjunct faculty. Parents appreciated the efforts of institution for collaborations with different industry sectors for training and placements. All students of last year batch have been placed.
