Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya came alive with vibrant energy as National Science Day celebrations kicked off with an array of dynamic activities, insightful discussions, and hands-on learning experiences. Organized by the C.V. Raman Science Society under the DBT Star Scheme, the event was catalyzed and supported by the Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST), NCSTC, DST, Govt. of India. Themed “Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science & Innovation for Viksit Bharat”, the celebrations aimed at igniting curiosity and fostering scientific excellence among students. The event featured inspiring guest lectures by Prof. G.S. Randhawa, a retired IIT Roorkee professor and passionate environmentalist, and Ms. Lipika Kochar from Kheti Virasat Mission. Madam Principal Dr. Mrs. Ajay Sareen, Faculty incharge Sciences and Head Deptt. of Chemistry- Mrs. Deepshikha, Dean Academics and Head Deptt. of Zoology- Dr. Seema Marwaha , Incharge C.V.Raman Science Society and Head Deptt. of Physics- Dr.Saloni Sharma, Incharge Innovation Cell and Head Deptt. of Botany- Dr. Anjana Bhatia, welcomed the resource persons with Planters. Prof. Randhawa captivated the audience with personal anecdotes, including his memorable interaction with Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, urging students to embrace perseverance and lifelong learning. Ms. Kochar passionately spoke about sustainable agriculture, organic farming, and Vedic health practices, encouraging students to reconnect with nature. Through her initiatives “Har Ghar Kisan” and “Ahar Se Arogya”, she inspired students to adopt eco-friendly practices and become responsible citizens. Adding to the intellectual fervor, Department of Physics conducted a Book Review Competition on “Noble Stories: Luminaries of Indian Space” engaged 22 students in thought-provoking reflections on India’s space pioneers. Department of Physics also demonstrated a virtual tour of BARC Mumbai and TIFR to provide an exclusive glimpse into cutting-edge scientific research, sparking inspiration among budding scientists. All the members of science faculty actively participated in the event. The excitement continues as all DBT Star Scheme-sponsored departments at HMV are hosting an extravaganza of scientific exhibitions, hands-on experiments, model displays, and interactive sessions, ensuring students get first and exposure to real-world scientific advancements. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Sareen lauded the faculty for their unwavering commitment to nurturing scientific temperament and encouraged students to channel their curiosity into meaningful research and innovations.
